What will happen if I try to boot dual MB with one unsupported processor?

Here's my question:

If I have a motherboard that supports only Katmai
processors (no Coppermines) and I insert a Katmai in
slot 1, and a Coppermine in slot 2, is it likely to
boot ignoring the processor in slot 2, or will it fail
to boot altogether?

The reason I ask is that if I can get it to boot
with the Coppermine in slot 2 (not used, obviously),
I have a program that might help me patch the BIOS to
support the Coppermine. But I can't do this unless I
can get the machine booted with a Coppermine installed
(kind of a catch-22).

Note: The board can physically support the Coppermine (can
apply the correct voltage, etc). The no Coppermine limitation
is strictly BIOS-related.

That was part of my question...There are two separate VRMs, so
in theory you could have two voltages for the two processors.

That doesn't mean you will. You could...

Perhaps someone who knows can let me know before I fry something!
