eating...

* a small bag of animal crackers 250 calories/35 calories from fat

or

* a small bag of jalapeno chips 200 calories/100 calories from fat

???

Depends on what you metabolize faster and your activiity levels. I believe lower intensity type of activities will burn fat off as a higher rate than carbs..whereas high intensity activities are the opposite.

So if you sit around doing nothing..which will ultimately cause you to gain weight, then a).

Animal crackers. If you consume more calories than you use in a day, there is an energy excess which is stored as fat typically. So if you are very fat then you have lots of excess (stockpiled) energy 🙂.

yes

a single instance over your life span, no difference

if you mean one or the other everyday for 3 years , then it would matter

250 > 200.

A calorie is a calorie. The crackers maybe be healthier but they will also cause you to gain more weight.

I guess everyone's metabolism is different, but for me, I gain weight much faster by eating sugary foods. They make me tired and I still consumed all of those calories. Fatty foods make me feel good, so I burn more of it off.

If I eat a nice steak, I'll be sweating for a couple of hours. If I eat a big bowl of ice cream, I'll be asleep in 30 minutes.
