If Obama wins, I'll hope that I'm completely wrong on him and the liberal congress, that they won't destroy the country by turning towards socialism.

If McCain wins, I'll hope he stays healthy ;)

I almost know it will happen because liberals never deliver good on their promises, but they always find a scapegoat to blame and it's always good enough in the right light to fool enough people so they'll be back again in 2024 or whenever.

Honestly, if Obama wins, it will be a judgement from God on the USA and the world as more social programs in a long time get voted into law and this economy tanks even more. You can take that as the official "fundie Christian loon" stance. My only plan is to work hard and try to make my community better.

Ah, so 'god damn America'? I guess Rev Wright was right!

I'd say the dems have a higher max government size/intrusion but its not like the pubs are slashin programs lately.

Truth. Anymore, the two parties are the Democrats, and the Democrats-lite, at least regarding fiscal policy.

Lots of things:

1. Dems should do such a bad job that Republicans take over congress again ala 1994.

2. The BIG one: We will finally get to see if trickle down actually works when Obama raises taxes. Reagan, Clinton and Bush all cut tax rates and we saw what happened. Now we get to see what happens when you raise rates.

3. We will see once and for all which party is the party of small government. Democrats like to point fingers are Republicans for high spending and point at Clinton as proof that Democrats want a balanced budget. I think Obama will show us who is right once and for all.

Finally, since 1981 the Republicans have controlled either the White House or Congress for all but two years. I think a lot of younger people forgot or never experienced a Democratic led government. Now they will see what Democrats really stand for. If Obama and the Democrats lurch to the left as many of us expect there will be a LOT of pissed off college kids who are supporting Obama now. Once these kids graduate in to a jobless high tax economy they will quickly change their mind about Democrats and the idea of 'change'.

1. Hard to do worse than the last 6/8 years.

2. Based on Obama's tax proposed tax plan my taxes aren't going up. I dunno about your income level but he'd have to come down pretty far to affect mine.

3. Your beloved (R) party grew the gov't and deficit more than any in history so the only place you need to be pointing fingers is at them.

What?

Are you saying the Repubs had 60 out of 100 seats in the Senate and a super majority in the House back then?

Because we know from around here that the Dems haven't had control the last 2 years - they only have a simple majority. I.e., they can't be blamed for anything in Congress?

These double standards are so confusing.

My party has already lost. Even f Obama wins the election, the Democrats have lost...

They haven't fielded a decent candidate since Clinton, and IMO, he was the first one since John Kennedy.

Being a devout pessimist, I will expect the worst from Obama, and be pleasantly surprised if he does good.
