Ultimate OEM full version.

This is what I did. $200 OEM on Newegg. No problems and no hitches.

Aren't the OEM versions 32 OR 64 bit, but not both. Thus, if you want to run 32 bit now and wait for better drivers before moving to 64 bit...you would be forced to buy vista twice?

Yup. I have no interest in 64-bit gaming (which is my only intention of going to 64-bit) for atleast 2 years. Solid support for it in games, drivers, and other apps is a ways off IMO. 32-bit has been great and will continue to be so....

There's a semi hack that lets you do a clean install with an upgrade disk. It's actually pretty darn easy too.

I thought upgrade disk lets you do clean install anyways? You just have to insert a legit copy of XP later during the installation process no?

Not anymore. Upgrade discs don't support the old school clean install.

that's fvcking retarded

You CAN purchase Remote Desktop as a third party application and install it. Then you will be able to connect both ways. It's supported, just not bundled.

I thought that was the big selling point of the Vista Ultimate Package.

And with the remote desktop, does the client computer your using have to be a Vista/windows machine? or can you remote into your desktop top home files from a Mac or linux machine?

btw, just some thoughts here... but with the promise of winFS now set for a year from now, will that be accessable as a download or upgrade for the people who buy Vista today? or will that be something included in the 'Blackcomb' OS that MS is being so secretive about. And will that come out in a year or 2 (or never probably  ) and make this release just like the 'Me' edition years ago that came out before 2000, which really revolutionized computing and is really what is still being used everywhere since xp is just 2000 done by FisherPrice. And supposablely this 'blackcomb' is going to be that kind of jump. Maybe this question needs its own thread.

There is a workaround for it: Clean Install instructions
