It was about 9AM EST and I was turning on the TV so that my son could watch NickJR.

And then I saw that a plane had crashed into the heart of where my oldest sister and her family work and live. And where my dad was currently visiting.

I can assure you that we now appreciate every single moment we get to spend with each other, and we are a hell of a lot less petty.

i was sleeping, my roomate came in and told me that a plane hit one of WTC towers, i said "fvck you, was it one of thoes little sesnas" (sp?). he said, "no, its a 747, bitch" i jumped out of bed, and went to the living room. for the next 2 days, we ddint do anything.

I was in the shower. I didn't actually hear anything about it until I got back from class around 11:15. I heard a few people talking, but it sounded like some sort of rumor. I was completely shocked when I got back to my dorm room a few hours later.

I was sleeping, it was like 5 in the morning, and I heard my phone ring like a way too many times. So I picked it up and said what. My dad then told me, a plane had crashed into the world trade center tower. I was like what how could that happen. So I turned on the TV just in time to see the second tower hit. I was just like holy sh!t holy sh!t oh my god, and all day I just sat in front of the tv wondering what the hell is happening in our world.

I was in my office when a co-worker came over and said "A plane just crashed into the WTC. You might want to check it out."

I tuned my radio to an AM news channel that was relaying CNNs broadsast. Then I went to msnbc.com, then cnn.com.

What a horrible day.

I was on my way to work listening to Howard Stern and thought he was joking at first till I started receiving alot of phone calls. I got to work and ten minutes later, we were all told to go home and be with our families.

That was a very sad day.

I work on Wall Street but I happened to take the day off because I had a terrible headache. My mother in law comes running in and wakes me up and tells me to watch TV. Then I kept seeing these images of planes hitting the WTC. I started going nuts because I know alot of people working there or near there including one of my very good friends. I frantically kept calling him but kept getting a fast busy signal. Then when the towers collapsed, I just lost it. I ran outside my apartment building in NJ to get a better look at the WTC but only saw plumes of smoke. I lost it again and drove to the nearest hospital to donate blood but they turned me away. Then I noticed a huge stream of people coming off the ferry and WALKING home.

I was in the car on the way home from the post office and had turned the radio on just before I got in my driveway so I didn't really grasp it fully, except to come in the door telling my housemate and my kids to turn on the TV - they already had it on... the first tower had already fallen and just after I got in the door, as we were all in front of the TV in complete shock the second tower fell.

My two youngest didn't really understand, thank God... my oldest started crying, my housemate sat down really hard and was just shaking all over, and I think I just stood where I was for a really long time.

Up until September 11, 2001 every time I heard 911 I thought of a Porsche or an emergency phone number. Not anymore.

i think it's long enough after it for you to just let it go

let it go??? if you could go back in time would you chose to get on one of those 4 planes that day??? no you wouldnt....we should never let go of what happened that terrible day

I was in the shower listening to NPR. I heard talk about a fire, terrorists attack, etc...at the WTC center and thought it was weird that they were still talking about the WTC bombing. Still in my goofy morning self, they then mention something about a plane and I clearly remember myself say, "plane? what plane? there wasn't a plane." Shock and unbelief set in as soon as I realized what had happened.

I was in class when it happened. Was walking to my next class and saw a huge crowd around the TV in the hall. Walked through them to my next class (in a computer lab) and looked on MSNBC for the latest news and saw.

not the wisest analogy but this will never be forgotten.

Looking around on Sharkyforums.com..there was a thread saying to turn on the TV...an airplane ran into WTC.

about to go to gym when I first heard...didnt realize the horror of it all until the next period when i sat down in the library and the TV was on...

I was at work and spent the entire day in, most interestingly, an elementary school. We were doing some network reconfig on the computers in every classroom, so I spent most of the day sitting in room and observing how these kids were taking it.

In the early grades it was business as usual... the teachers were visibly disturbed but were going along with their business as usual with the children. In the middle grades they were talking about feelings and stuff... in the junior high they were packed into big classrooms and made to watch it all on TV. It was pretty surreal, and every kid will remember that day. I would get a call from my wife on the cell every now and then, she'd give me updates. I also remember when she said "they got the pentagon too" and then I became really, really worried about our country in general. but we made it ok, and still are.

I also remember seeing the french newspaper headlines "We are all americans now" on the internet and reflecting on that now, i really
hate those french posers. 🙂

Edit: Oh, I originally found out when I was listening to Walton and Johnson (a southern thing) and some redneck asshole called in and said 'dude this is awesome guys, somebody just blew up a big building in new yark!'.
