What were they thinkin when they designed this tshirt?

Every dry cleaner's in this city is owned by Asians. What's the problem?

Lets see...what is wrong with this statement?

So each and every dry cleaner in your city is owned by an Asian? Thats not generalizing at all.

The offensive part of the t-shirt is the depiction of the Wong brothers as having slanty eyes and wearing traditional farming hats worn in China.

That is the problem, if you are too blind to see that then I feel sorry for you.

bwhahaha, good point. 🙂

PC has been taken WAYYYYYY to far. I bet 80% of the people complaining were serial PC complainers looking for something, and werent even asian.

<< these banned shirts are all over ebay >>

Who the hell is dumb enough to pay $1000 for a t-shirt? Like it's gonna become a high-valued collectible or something...

<< An A&F employee only wants $1,200 for one of those shirts on ebay! >>

Heh...she just knows how silly many Ebayers are...I don't doubt that she'll get it...for a t-shirt...

Oh, and to answer your original question

<< What were they thinkin when they designed this tshirt? >>

I think it was a little something like this:

Abercrombie My oh my. I love being rich...*AND* white!
Fitch Yes yes. But you know what sucks about being us Crombie?
A What's that, Fitchy old boy?
F Nothing! Ha ha ha
A Ah-ha! Touché! So my proud white brother, who shall we oppress today?

Actually, I think most people don't really have a problem with the rice hats and slanty eyes and all as much as they do with the "Laundry Service" and the quote. The Chinese doing laundry was part of an era in which the Chinese had to struggle with racism and other oppression. They were forced to do laundry because they did not have the opportunity to do anything else. Although A&F probably did not intend to offend anyone with the T-shirt, putting the laundry service with the Chinese people on it really touches a sensitive part of Chinese-American history. If you want an analogy, just think what would happen if they stuck 2 African Americans on the back of a T-shirt and advertised a cotton picking service with a similar quote (something about black folk and white folk).
