What were the modems speeds that you've used....

From the beginning of your life on the internet till now....what are the speeds of modems you've used?

<-- 2400, 14400, 28800, 56K Modem, Sympatico DSL (100 KB download, 35 KB up (i think), Rogers (300 KB download, 45 KB up) later updated to 500KB download/ 100 KB upload)

Jeez, let's see...

2400, 9600, 14400, 33.6k, then Roadrunner cable (2-3mbps down, 384kbps up), and now some insanely fast connection here at the university 😛

my first modem was a 14.4... I upgraded to a 56k when they first came out.

fastest connection I've used is the backbone connection at work.

I think there was a system or two that I used that was running 50 baud, but 110 baud was the best around for quite a long time. (I still have my first modem which features both rs-232 and current loop interfaces; you just don't see modern gear supporting current loop any more.) Made the jump to 300 and was happy. 1200 was great. I had a terrific 2400 baud modem that cost $800 and had a large LCD display with all sorts of cool stuff displayed on it. Then I had one of the first USR 9600 baud modems when they came out (I got one for my house and one for Nyx Net's dialup bank). I went through a few more modems since then, but then I moved Nyx into my house and so I have the T1 lines going here and I've been providing 56k service for incoming calls for several years now.

Oh hell yeah. I remember the days! I have a VIC 1541 and a 1571 above my bed right now. Got a crap load of carts in a box, and a datasette too

9.6kb and up. Everything in between.

I even used a 33.6 Hayes for a while. God I loved that modem, talk about reliabilty.
