2000 - 2001.

One of the major myths is that the place isn't as friendly as it was back then. It's quite contrary - things were a LOT of more heated, passionate and vindictive back then. It's just that there was usually some wit or quality of thought attached to the flames. Not to mention the moderators didn't lock those posts because the people who posted them were known quantities and, trolls or not, it was worth the entertainment to have them around. Not so anymore.

Now some noob will add the word "asshat" to a post, figure it's the greatest flame post ever, and a dozen other noobs quote it and go "ROFL OMG LOLLOLOL1!!!!" like it's some great victory. Please. Throw an amnesiac 2.0, justint, ulfwald or Shanatu into a thread and watch how a real man's fire is started.

Cliff notes: You people disgust me. ;)

What's even sadder is that he wasn't some little kid.

I was the antihardware, it was so frustrating because it was like talking to a robot, he had no intelligence whatsoever, you just could not argue with him. So many people use the **CONFIRMED** nowadays, no one knows where it originated...Hardware's linkless posts, claiming something about the GTS being great, which he would confirm himself. Classic. Notice how he disappeared after 3dfx went out of business?

I'm not really sure what happened with that LukFilm thing...didn't PCREsources fake his own death?

lol, that was classic. it provided me with hours of reading enjoyment. and yeah, he pretty much vanished from the forums as soon as 3DFX went bellyup.

last I heard was that he did fake his own death. not sure if Lukfilm got his monitor replaced?

hahaha, anyone remember the Jerboy scroll? :D

Back in the day I was trading in FS/FT while you all were arguing here.

How'd I manage to only get 92 heat?

We didnt have cliff notes back then!
Cliff notes is suck.

It was one of the best places to stop by... I always got a laugh or two from the flame threads.

When Intel vs AMD threads were basically intelligent people vs zealots. I remember pm ans Wingznut(sp?) actually trying to refute stuff both sides were saying along with a bunch of us. Back when the 3dfx vs Nvidia stuff was like one ~ 200 post thread every 3 days. Back when NeOtEcHmAn had his CS server and we would play for like 3+ hours every days and like 8 hours on fridays........

Monopoly was fun :)

I honestly can't say 'cuz although I joined AT early, I left early and temporarily. I don't think I've ever really been vested in AT. I just drop in my views but don't really get involved in the sense that I would say there's something I really miss or much difference I notice.

If I must choose though, I would say when I first joined for hot deals (2000) and they had the best hot deals one could think of. Thanks to AT and of course FW and other hot deal sites, I managed to build my first own PC for about $100. You can tell I'm frugal, can't you? ;) I bet Keanu Reeves and I would have been a perfect match had I been his age group! :Q LOL! :D
