What were some of the cool and dumb field trips you've

Ah, who can forget those. I would always look forward to them because as a kid I never had the chance to travel much (parents weren't the travelling type).

Here were some of the cool field trips I've been on:
Yosemite National Park
Monterey Bay
San Francisco
Old Spanish Missions
Columbia (old mining town)
Universal Studios Hollywood

Stupid field trips:
Water treatment plant :disgust:
Local university

Stupid: We were going to tour the state capitol building (80 miles away) in 1st grade. It was raining that day, so instead we went to McDonald's for an ice cream cone and went back to school for the day. Why cancel a whole trip to an indoor place because it is raining?

we didn't get many.

Lake Tobias Animal Farm
Hershey Park
Little Buffalo State Park
Harrisburg Hospital
Washington D.C.

i think thats it.

Cool:
Six Flags Magic Mountain - physics class to perform experiments
Catalina

Not Cool:
some garden that wasn't even gardeny

off the top of my head, going to ROPES (place to go on zip-lines, walk across balance beams way up high, etc) was fun.

When I was in elementary school in Japan, we went to a car factory. Can't remember which one, but that was pretty cool.

in grade 9 canadian history we went to a paintball arena and did some trench warfare simulations, it was the best feild trip ever!

too many to list.

my high school class of '03 fund raised over $50k in four years span.

cruise was definitely the best field trip i ever had.

we got a field trip to ratheon...it was great:

me: "Whats in there?"
guide: " cant say"
me "okay, how about there?"
guide: "oh there, nothing"
me : "whens lunch"

Heh, i've been in HoneyWell/AlliedSignal buildings like that. I even got a tour of the server room with the mainframes before someone realized it. I've always loved the "non-nuclear" division, the building where everyone knows they do weapons research/production but nobody admits it.

Private school?

My best ones:
Busch Gardens Williamsburg
NASA Langley Research Center
Colonial Williamsburg
Yorktown Battlefields
Washington DC
Regional Jail

Worst:
Courthouse (whatever was being tried was extremely boring, traffic court is more interesting)

I don't remember that many of them, but one that cracks me up now is when they took us to a mink farm (sometime in elementary school.) Can you imagine a public school taking little kids to a farm where they raise animals for their fur, now? Hahaha, the world was pretty different in the 1970s. I also remember touring a little bagel shop. Pretty funny when you consider it was in a small Oregon town about thirty years ago. We also went to a place where they made wooden boxes, those cool ones with no metal fasteners.

best trip was a week long camping trip in the Jersey Pine Barrens with the entire 6th grade. that was frickin sweet! Worst? probably the Franklin Institute for the 5th year in a row.

Growing up in the DC area they were pretty much all to DC junk. Coolest was a train trip to NYC on the now defunct Pennsylvania RR.

The strangest one I remember is when we took a tour of NOBA, a bull farm. They send bull semen all over the world for breeding. We got to look at some of the bulls, we saw a little film about how it "works", we saw the shipping department and the freezer section where they store some of their prize-winning product. And the room where they displayed pictures and statistics of their top bulls and some of their offspring.

They gave us little gifts when we left, little glass vials with colored water in them, similar to what they used for their "product."

That's a field trip a bunch of middle-schoolers aren't likely to ever forget.

Trips to see the local production of some show at the local theater. Trips to a high school to see their drama club production of whatever they were doing.

Best trip - none. Never got to go anywhere neat in school.

4th grade to 8th grade I went to a private school that was big on hands on learning.
There would always be three over night trips a year, with the second and third getting longer as the grades progressed. In middle school we went on two week trips. Niagara Falls was pretty sweet, as was Toronto.
Germany was also real sweet, but that was over spring break.
I've been to lots of cool places and lots of wack places.

We had a camping trip in 4th grade. We also visited a pig farm where a piglet poo'ed on my shirt. I don't really remember that many, but I always thought that they were fun.

Botantical gardens and some zoo up in quebec. Went to boston and camped out for like a week and that was pretty fun. I went to a quary once and that wasn't that fun. Most of them sucked.

Cool:
the Poletown Cadillac Plant - got to see an assembly line building Caddys
Mackinac Island
Boblo Island
Cedar Point
Four Bears
Greektown (in Detroit)
Disneyland, Epcot, Magic Kingdom in Orlando

Lame:
the Environmental Center (like every year from 1st thru 8th grade)

There were a TON more, but I forget all of them
