What web programming languages should I learn?

Is ASP worth it? How about ASP.net?

I don't want to learn a dying programming language(ASP), and then have to learn another one(ASP.net)

I know both CSS and HTML, and neither of them are programming languages.

It is worth mentioning that I have some knowledge of XML, so don't mention XML, even though XML isn't even a programming language

Pick one lannguage and learn it well. It's better than being lousy at a bunch of different languages.

I'd say learn ASP.NET and C#, will be the jsp / java killer.

ASP>NET can do server side error checking for both browsers, oncredibbly nice technology and C# is alot lot faster then slow poke java.


btw i know JAVA and C# very well.

it doesn't matter which language u learn as long as u can apply the concept of it to a new development
you are going to do fine...just need to learn the syntax

but you should know object oriented programming....if u know this then u r all set with C++ and C# and Java

if you really want to learn, EJB is one of the best right now. I am learning ASP again now. I did the PHP before and I see that ASP and PHP are not too different imo. But also you might want to consider servlet. That's a little bit harder than ASP and PHP.

Learn C# first? Not on your life. Maybe after learning Java... It's pretty hard to find a job learning a language that's still in non-release state.
