What was your worst summer job?

Considering my current job has been my only summer job (for four summers thus far) technically it's this job. Though this job is pretty sweet....

I smuggled illegal immigrants across the mexican border into the US in between my junior and senior year of high school. It was pretty profitable and a rewarding experience.

man if you'd know how many people do that (getting up 6am or earlier every day, spending 8 hours at some average job for, say $9 or $10...... WELCOME to the real world 🙂

i worked at the printing press where rolling stone, ESPN the mag and other mags were printed and binded.
my job was to take wrapped stacks of rolling stone magazines sorted by zip code off a conveyor belt and stack them on a pallette.

When I was about 13-14 picking strawberries.

Sh!tty wages (probably comparable to sewing a Nike soccer ball in Pakistan) and it was hard work.

I really only had one summer job and I loved it. If I could get paid $50k/year to do that, I'd do it in a heartbeat.

My other summer job was my college internship for 3 summers.
And now I work there full time 🙂

relax before senior year, lol, that's a good one. All you do senior year is relax. Sounds like you're lazy to me.

LOL. Strawberry picking SUCKS! I can't wait to take my kids strawberry/blueberry picking so that they can suffer the way my parents made me suffer! BWAHAHAHA

WAHOO! Today was my last day of work at the hell hole called "Maine Turf." It's a landscaping company situated in Scarborough. I pretty much despised this job. The work was hard, monotonous, and crappy. The hours were awful--waking up a 6:00am is quite hard when I go to bed at ~12:00 each night.

It has seriously cut into my summer vacation. And I could use a summer to relax before my senior year (and college applications). So after two months, I QUIT! NO MORE! UNEMPLOYMENT IS SO GREAT!

The pay was good. $9/hr (more than the majority of my friends), but it was definitely NOT worth the work.

So what has been your worst summer jobs? Because this ranks among one of the top IMO. I'm not cut out for landscaping. I need to stay inside and work on computers and web development like I did last summer 🙂

haha you are lazy. you need a summer off to relax? was junior year of high school so taxing?

p.s. if you can't get up at 6, go to bed earlier.

Working at my Dad's car wash he used to have doing all the detailing jobs durning the dead heat of summer. It sucked for sure, but was quick money in my pocket and I for the most part made my own hours when we weren't completly slammed.

No!! It should be $50 an hour!

To the OP:

You should have stuck with it. Wait until you get to the real world.

Compared to many other outdoor jobs, your average landscaping job is a cake walk. Mix a couple wheel-barrows of concrete by hand and then carry around some Wolmanized 6"x6"s and we'll talk. And I wish I could have slept in till six for that job.

Although I have a feeling that if someone handed you a spud bar, hilarity would ensue.

If you're concerned about college apps, maybe you should consider the idea that colleges will think better of you for working (or doing something else that is productive, like a camp or additional classes at a local college) during the summer...something besides eating and sleeping at home.
