Upcoming Hawks victory. Otherwise, Jordan's first Championship. White Sox, although I am a fan of them, only very casually and I celebrated, it didn't mean anything to me or evoke any sort of emotional response like the Hawks or Bulls do/did.

Your team may have won but they were dominated in the last period. Already claiming victory for a series that isn't over is the bet of a fool, especially against a team that just replicated the 3rd greatest comeback in playoff sports history.

I feel so sorry for Yankee fans. Winning a championship must be such a fleeting and hollow feeling for those poor suckers. Only a sucker would pay $12 for a beer to support a team that plays in sport without a salary cap.

My favorite championship was easily the 2000 Baltimore Ravens and their thrashing of the NY Giants in the Super Bowl. Maybe the best defense you will ever see in your lifetime and a team that won with spectacular D.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baltimore_Ravens#2000_season_.E2.80.94_Super_Bowl_champions

The 2000 season saw the Ravens defense, led by defensive coordinator Marvin Lewis, develop into a rock-solid unit that emerged as one of the most formidable defenses in NFL history. The Ravens defense set a new NFL record in holding opposing teams to 165 total points; the feat eclipsed the mark set previously by the 1986 Chicago Bears of 187 points for a 16 game season. Linebacker Ray Lewis was named Defensive Player of the Year...

All 4 for my team, the Spurs -

'99 - First championship for the franchise

'03 - David Robinson retiring after winning the final game in San Antonio, with Tim Duncan putting up one of the most impressive stat lines in playoff history with a near quadruple-double.

'05 - Grueling 7 games series vs the Pistons, watching Robert Horry come to life was simply amazing.

'07 - Sweeping LeBroom - enough said.

Even though I'm a huge Cowboys fan, I don't remember too many of their Super Bowl victories since I was so young, except for the one where they ate the Steelers up.

Tough call. Top 3 would probably be:

1995 Stanley Cup - Devils were the underdogs, but swept the Red Wings

2003 Stanley Cup - Devils won in 7 games

2008 Super Bowl - Giants beat the Patriots in one of the greatest Super Bowls ever, ending their undefeated season.

Most people would probably pick the 2008 Super Bowl, but I'd pick the 2003 Stanley Cup as my number 1.

Super Bowl XLIV - Saints beat Colts 31-17.

As a long time Saints fan that was so unbelievably sweet. It still hits me at random times. "Oh, the Saints won the superbowl...Fuck Yeah!".

Phillies winning the world series in 2008. Watching them overcome "the curse" was like watching a miracle unfold before my eyes.

Elway and the Broncos first SB win which was over the Packers.

Second, Syracuse's BBall Championship in 03.

I cried after both wins.

UMD winning the NCAA championship in I believe 2002.

I was living on campus and the whole season and tournament was just a blast, and when they won the whole tournament it was even better.

I'll take that hollow feeling any day over fans that have never tasted a championship in their lifetimes.

*looks at cubs and indians fans.

The Giants-Pats Superbowl was the sweetest for me.

Huge underdog? check
Team going through turmoil during the season? check
Ending an undefeated season in the last possible minute? check
One of the greatest plays in all of sport with a lot on the line? check
Adding more fuel to the fire to the NY-Boston rivalry? check

Unquestionably the 1991 World Series. Minnesota still hasn't taken home a championship in any major sport since then, but I remember that one well.

Most people remember game 7 the best (where Jack Morris pitched all 10 innings and allowed no runs), but for me it was game 6 when Kirby Puckett hit a walk-off home run in the bottom of the 11th.

We don't actually play the games, but sometimes we watch them like we're part of the team. And now that my long suffering Blackhawks might be on the verge I have to reflect.

Being an in-state homer, mine are:

1) Bears Superbowl victory - I was just a kid, but Walter Payton was my first athlete idol. I lived and died when they lost the playoff game the previous year (I think to the 49ers), and the next year I treasured every moment of those dominant playoffs en route to the title.

The Bears SHOULD have been undefeated that year.

2) Jordan's first title. I loved that team. By the end of the finals they were the best NBA team I've ever seen.

None of the teams I root for consistantly have ever won a major NCAA championship.

Now Dennis Rodman is in celebrity rehab and Jordan is doing t-shirt commercials and playing golf...oh, and the Lakers are in the finals! GO LAKERS!!!

BTW-I've been a Lakers fan since the early 1990 so I remember a number of games against the Bulls that didn't go my way. But we have Phil Jackson now. :p
