What was your most expensive car repair you've ever had?

What would you say was your most expensive car trip repair you've had up to date?

Wnat what was repaired?

<---

850s.

New tires, breaks, alignment, and a few other things i can't remember

first bike: gave it grief and it leant on performance rather than endurance. Three engines in 14 months. One was when a tosspot in a car totalled me, though. It hurt.

Transmission needed to be replaced. $3000. Funny story too because warranty couldn't cover despite the fact my car had less mileage than the contract limit (had one of those no. of years owned OR mileage) and the car saw moderate use running highway and barely local. This somehow led to 40 shattered or broken pieces (are there even that many??) in the transmission.

Just recently... $350ish including labour, outer tie rods and a few front end bushings.. I've spent more on tires and brakes, but that's not repairs...

Transmission - $1200, same transmission six months later, another $600.

Tiny piece of plastic that broke off fuel pump and blocked fuel line - $900.

Uhm.. when I put my car through the garage door.. about 3700...

Don't ask how it happened, I wasn't even IN the car when it happened.

If you count the clutch as a "repair", then over $2,000 in parts and labor to replace the clutch on my 924S back when I had it. That's so far though. The present situation with the 951 will surpass that once I get a bill.

There are no breaks when paying for car repears.

Back when I had a little Plymouth Sundance, it kept stalling out. I figured it was the computer/fuel pump, and as something I couldn't do on my own took it to a shop. They claimed it was the "pickup plate", and promptly charged me $350 to fix it. It was still broken, much yelling followed, they ended up fixing the computer for free, which would've cost just about the same anyways. That's about the most at one time though, most of the time when something big and expensive comes along, I dump the car and move on.

So far the suspension+tires upgrade on the Camaro.

4 Tires, shocks, struts (+ new mounts), subframe connectors, panhard bar, steering frame brace, bushings, control arms, steering linkage, pitman arm, etc...

Just over $3,000 in all.

$1800.
My sister hit my parked car (1991 Grand Prix) in her bug in such a way that the bug sustained no signifigant damage. She backed up and basically wiped the side of the car pushing in the door panels.

$2200.
My dad did the same to the driver's side in a cherokee (his first at fault accident)

After that I started parking in a place where it was impossible to get a car beside me. I blame it on the color of the car. My family has very poor luck with blue cars.

Transmission... $2500

My dad replaced the engine in one of his cars (not by choice)... I think that ran him about $3000 at the time.

New motor in my porsche from the dealer. Came in a create from Germany from the factory.

$10,950

I paid $900 of that repair.

AC compressor and related parts, about $1100. Serpentine belt had to be changed when compressor was replaced.

About $1000...paid way too much (this was at a dealer since no one else seemed to know how to fix my problem)...basically my car's antitheft system was killing the engine/fuel delivery at start, turns out a wire had shorted going to the unit or something....so they replaced that, ended up replacing the PCM too, also got my front brakes done, and probably other stuff I'm forgetting right now (this was almost a year ago)

Luckily the car hasn't given me any problems at all since then 😛

Valve job, I can't even remember what kind of car it was, but it cost about $800

Just last weekend was quoted $750 plus tax to replace the upper & lower ball joints on my 2000 Ranger 4X4 (wouldn't pass inspection, I knew they was bad tho 🙂, will do myself this weekend for about $240 in parts

we got smoked by a truck with a salt spreader on the back... the damages were over $4000, but it was covered by insurance. those things are pretty heavy duty... cut through my hood like melted butter.
