How did you people get a credit card with no cosigner and no credit history?

student cards dont require such things, if you are really hard up you can get a secured card to build some credit history and then switch over to an unsecured card at the earliest possible time.

Weird, that's what I had always thought, but I got denied for a college card. :Q

I've thought about secured but I believe it takes 12-18 months or so to be able to switch to a real card, and that kinda sucks.

Citibank gave me 3000 back in 85. AZ saving bank issued me a MC for 10,000 6 months later. AMEX invited me the following year.

you have alot of low credit cards. i dont think thats beneficial for your FICO score, especially if you charge anywhere above 50% on them even if you do pay down the balance every month.

for me,

$5200 credit union
$5000 First USA (Amazon.com)
$5000 MBNA
$3000 Amex Blue
$1300 CompUSA
$1100 Best Buy

That's highly unusual..........trippling your limit based on one good payment.

I thought so as well. That's CapitalOne for you.

Btw, it was a 19.9% APR, which I paid off every month. Sucky thing was after that 3rd month where they increased the limit, nothing changed whatsoever on it (no APR drop, no credit limit increase) for the next 2 years. After trying to get an APR drop with customer service over the phone (just so I could have a lower APR in case I couldn't pay it off each month) and failing, I cancelled the card.

A mere 34 days younger than you. That fateful day towards the end of this year is approaching all too quickly, isn't it? (it certainly feels that way to me)

Try Cap 1 they are the first card many people get, including me and a few friends. The APR will suck, and Cap1 sucks... but its credit.
