What was your limit for your first cc?

One of the first cards I got back when I was 18 was an Amoco gas card, and it's limit was $100. 🙂 The sad thing was the limit was only $200 when I canceled it about a year ago when I was 25. I never really used the card and never bothered trying to raise the limit.

I think my first, non-specific CC had a limit around $500 to $1000 (I got it back during college).

When I was 18 I got a card with $1000.
Now I'm 19, cancelled my old card, and have a $3000 limit on my current card.

Holy crap, I'm only in 2nd year college.. How come I have such higher limits than you guys?

So how does one go about raising the limits on it anyway?

call and ask.

Or just apply for another card. I cancelled my old one, and my new one was higher. I never had a balance more thna $500 tho, and I paid it off ASAP.

My balance now is 0.

$3000, it was a joint account w/ my parents. now its $30,000, still a joint account, but i'm the primary account holder. i never actually use the "credit" part of the card. never had a pending positive balance.

I had been 18 for about 6 months before I got my first card. I believe the limit was $1000. I'll be 22 next week and it's up over $10,000 now.
