What was your first day of college like?

Today was English, took the test to see if I placed in that class and did miserable. The Teacher said ?We'll see how the next few days go.?

What she was really saying: ?I have no faith in you but I don't want to break your spirit just yet.?

So I'm pretty sure I'll end up in a lower class, which will hurt my ego a bit since I was happy on how well I did on the initial placement test. Because anyone that has seen some of my better work on here knows that I am lacking in the subject.

Tomorrow is math. Can't freaking wait...

My freshman year was awesome.

It started sucking when I got into the high level Genetics and Organic Chemistry classes, heh, last semester after I failed my first Ochem 351 test, I sat under my desk for a day wondering what the crap I was going to do and spiraled into a pit of despair and sorrow for about a month as found out that I was failing everyone of my classes.

I got up out of my pit of self pity, studied my ass off and got an 86 in the class and a 3.0 GPA that semester (got a C in a calculus class, but As and Bs in the others)

Didn't really do much the first day except get moved in and stuff, then forced to go to mandatory intro sessions and cr@p. First day of classes was pretty much just every teachers talking about their expectations and what we would be covering that semester and stuff (like the first day of classes every other semester).

I didn't have to take any placement tests or anything, but then again I didn;t have to take any English either since i'm an engineer.

EDIT: first class I took freshman year was organic chemistry, I didn't actually have to take it, but I took 2 semester of organic chemistry + labs for the hell of it. For some reason people think this is not a good idea, but it really is a fun subject for anyone to take even if you arent a chemistry major. Its kinda annoying as an engineer they try to force you to take so many classes than you don't get alot of choice, especially freshman year, so you might as well take something you will enjoy instead of taking the stupid Econ 100 like everyone else does jsut casue its easy.

A professor usually has better things to do than worry about how you did in a placement test. Just start off in the right place and you will be fine. In a year or two it wont make any difference anyway.

My first day of college was Calculus II class. I remembered there were a lot of noobs who didn't belong in the class. Later that day I had Computer Science (C programming), which I slept through lol. I showed up just in time to get a copy of the syllabus. :D

Sounds like my first day of boot camp. So which service academy did you attend or did you go to VMI?

Meh, I went to college, but I almost never attended school... ;) so I don't quite remember.

Going back now, and it is quite interesting. I feel so old with all of the undergrads in the class. I really need to get these prereqs done already.

Ha, my first day...

This is my first day as a fulltime student at least - classes in HS at the local university don't count.

I had an 8:00 lab for my first engineering class, EGR101 - CAD/CAM. They had been sending these emails saying how it was SO IMPORTANT NOT TO MISS THE FIRST DAY! since they were going to show us around the mills and whatnot. Anyway, the class was at the downtown campus which was about a 30 minute bus ride from the campus where I lived. I got up at about 6 and was out to the bus stop just after 7. Apparently I just missed the previous bus, which was a bummer, but they come regularly so I figured it would be fine.

The bus ended up coming 20 minutes late at about 7:40. I was really nervous by then - I was going to be late for this oh-so-important lab! So, when I tried to get on the bus, it was full and the driver wouldn't let me on. :( I waited for the next one and ended up getting to class almost an hour late.

Of course, they had all gone off touring the labs, so there was no one in the specified meeting room except a professorial-looking type. I asked him if this was the right room. He looked at me with a nasty glare and started swearing and cussing me out, muttering something about #@%@% high school kids and how this wasn't high school anymore. I politely thanked him (or maybe not) and left, wandering off to the bathroom to cry for a bit...

It worked out fine, though. I found someone in the office and hooked up with another section of lab to go over the first day's stuff. I'm just glad I've never had that particular professor, though. There are some personality types that just don't work for me; at least I know they exist now, though, and can either avoid them or survive them.

I finished moving my stuff into the dorm and saw some friends in the lobby. I waved goodbye to the parents and went out drinking. Come to think of it, that pretty much sums up all of my college experience. Good times...

I remember it like it was yesterday. First I went into my english class, it was ok, the professor was boring as hell but he taught ok. Then I met some friends, one dude from Argentina and a girl from Ucraine, I knew them because they knew my brother. They were cool people so that's how I spent my morning. In the afternoon I went to my calculust II class and started making some small talk with some people there, there was a hot girl who sat in front of me, I also talked to her but she turned out to be quite boring. The class finished around 3:00 pm and that was it. Nothing espectacular.

The Ironic part is that as I am finishing school this year, I feel crappier, sort of stressed, as if I had a lot of pressure on me. I don't know why I feel this way but hopefully it will just go away as this semester advances.

Yeah, I hope not; we're starting senior project this semester in a couple weeks and all my other classes are done but two I'm in now...

I'm glad you enjoy my writing skills, though. ;)

Oh, by the way, engineering dropouts here are sent to the Business school.
