I'll share my first day after I transferred to a University. It's rather anti-climactic, though.

I move up Jan. 5th 2006 to my apartment off campus because the Uni. has overbooked their dorms on campus. I get all settled, setup everything, and bask in the emptiness that is life. Out of curiosity, I check to see when my classes are, diagram them out in terms of classes per day, where my breaks are and such. While on my Uni's website, I see when the first day of the semester is. I find a calender that says "Classes being Jan. 10." Awesome, I don't have any classes Monday! Monday rolls around and I sleep in 'till the proper time of noon. As I wake up, I notice one of my roomates leaving while his bookbag on ... "Classes start tomorrow, right?" This was the first time I've ever talked to him aside from the passing "Hello. I'm your new roomie" a few days back. "Umm...no, they start today," he replied. &^(%*$!! "REALLY!?" He brings out his laptop and shows me a different calender, one that has BEEN UPDATED SINCE 2005 which clearly states "Classes being Jan. 9th." So, I missed all of my classes the first day of the semester. How fun.

I had an apartment for summer semester before my freshman year. On orientation day I had food poisoning and called to ask if I could reschedule and they said no, it was mandatory (had I been older and wiser I would have said fvck them).. so I halued my ass out of bed, and walked to the auditorium... Started meeting people, and talking a bit.. sure I looked terrible... then I became extremely nauseous and passed-out in the middle of the entire freshman class. I woke up covered in vomit when the ambulance arrived to transport me to the emregency room. I don't think I talked to anyone or they to me for the rest of my college career, which lasted another year and a half until I dropped out.

It was the greatest day of my high school years. After getting a detention for leaving campus at lunch time, I walked out and decided I was not going to take that crap anymore. I signed up at the local community college in the running start program, then went back to the high school and got the counselor to sign off on it before dropping all of my high school classes. The next day, going to school for two hours instead of seven, and having my mom tell me she was proud of me getting college out of the way so soon on top of it, was nothing but a win-win situation. My only regret is not having done it sooner!

I remember my first day of college fondly, I got to my freshman english class a few minutes early and the prof was already writing madly on the board. It was filled with grammar rules and sentence diagrams and she was asking the students if they remembered this or that?

Everyone is nodding and raising their hands except for me. I groaned inwardly and told myself it was time to pay the piper as I had never taken any English in HS (but, that's another story).

I slump down in the desk feeling sorry for my self when the prof says "Well, you don't gotta know it! You're going to learn to write correct English by doing it."

She had us write papers and marked them for problems with the page numbers of the textbook where we could find the correct way to write that sentence. We corrected our papers and turned them in again. We kept doing that until we got it right. I got an 'A' for the course!

I remember it like it was yesterday. First I went into my english class, it was ok, the professor was boring as hell but he taught ok. Then I met some friends, one dude from Argentina and a girl from Ucraine, I knew them because they knew my brother. They were cool people so that's how I spent my morning. In the afternoon I went to my calculust II class and started making some small talk with some people there, there was a hot girl who sat in front of me, I also talked to her but she turned out to be quite boring. The class finished around 3:00 pm and that was it. Nothing espectacular.

The Ironic part is that as I am finishing school this year, I feel crappier, sort of stressed, as if I had a lot of pressure on me. I don't know why I feel this way but hopefully it will just go away as this semester advances.

My post above reminds me of a funny time in college.

I was a TA for an organic chemistry class during my graduate studies. On the first day of class I was reading through the lab rules and when I came to, "no horseplay in the lab", I somehow replaced horseplay with foreplay. Took me a minute to regain the room and finish going over the syllabus. Good times!

I'm going to a community college so thats why they have placement tests. I was Home Schooled most of my life but was a little brat that didn't shape up and start applying myself until I was sixteen and it was very clear that I had a lot of work to do. So I was unprepared for this class but like hell I'm giving up.

I hope to god they don't make me step down a class because the caliber of people in mine are bad enough. The last thing I want is to be placed in a room with individuals that are borderline retarded.

I didn't realize how far it was from the parking structure to my first class, so i was late, and sweaty, and it was for Early United States History in a Lecture Hall, and i couldn't keep my eyes open.

placement tests kinda sucked, but I found them too easy. Next barrier was a big one and that was organic chemistry. Both O Chem semesters sucked real badly. My master's degree thesis work and course work simultaneously has been pretty tough, but keeping my interest so far.

So I'm pretty sure I'll end up in a lower class, which will hurt my ego a bit since I was happy on how well I did on the initial placement test. Because anyone that has seen some of my better work on here knows that I am lacking in the subject.

Tomorrow is math. Can't freaking wait...

Based on the English skills shown in that post you belong in the lower class.

I'm nervous as hell to goto college next year, I have a terrible study habit (I don't study really at all now and still have A's/B's, but it's high school....)

I'm not a partyer I just don't study, but I know that will change

The first day was a bit slow...just moving into the dorms and getting our stuff in place, and get-to-know-you sessions in my classes. The second day was a little more exciting: rush at my brother's old fraternity and many more tequila shots than any human my size should consume in the time I consumed them, followed by several hours of semi-consciousness and puking onto the couch I was passed out on. I didn't drink for several weeks after that. The third day was pretty rough, but I made it to my 8am calc class, with barf still in my hair :D. I learned my lesson and settled down a bit after that ;).

I don't remember but I seem to remember introducing myself to my professors on the first day and mentioning how glad I was to be in their classes.

It was a long, downhill slide from there.

I had Western Civ at 8 in the morning, which wasn't fun at all.

However I met some awsome people that day, and now I live with them in an apartment.

well first day was move in day. Moved in...couldn't attend the banquet cause I didn't have a suit jacket & tie. Was missing this girl that had NO interest in me whatsoever but I was being obstinate. Then people came back, my room was a forced triple above the boiler room. Then I went to the room of some sophomores and drank some beer, listened to some music...I still remember one of the songs...one of the lines was about swastika tattoos...can't think of the band now. Then this dude everyone called jonnie sacco showed me how to shotgun a beer by stabbing the side of it and sucking out the froth.

EDIT: the song was NoFX 'The Brew'

does it matter if you are in a so-called lower class? unless you want to be an English professor, why worry. what are your other subjects? have fun :)
