And of course Goonies. It helps that I first saw it in Seaside, probably 15 miles from where it was filmed.

My wife and her 4 sisters grew up in Astoria. This movie is treated as the second coming of Christ in my home.

lol 😀

back when we still lived in the Pac NW (Portland) and I was a kid, my dad took me and a couple of my friends out to Astoria for the day. it was awesome. hehe.

I'd really love to move there someday. lol. I heard the economy sucks out there, though.

Star Wars 4-6

Seen those by far more than any other movie.

Grew up watching them at least a few times a year.

Same. 🙂
I probably watched Return of the Jedi the most, and Empire the least.

Yet another boring vote for Goonies and FotN.

Also, this one movie where these kids make a space ship after discovering/inventing a way to make some sort of spheroid shield. The Explorers or something like that.

Explorers

Anyone remember the 'The Woman in Red' with Gene Wilder..?

That was my all time favorite because Kelly LeBrock had shown of 1 second of blatant full frontal nudity.

I think I was 9 at the time and we were stealing HBO and I got to watch it. To this day, I think of that movie as one of my all time favorites for that one scene alone. 🙂

oh yeah i remember that. you get a brief hairy shot heh.

corny as all hell, but to this day I can still watch that movie in full and get a huge laugh out of the movie, especially when those surfer dudes rob the house.

TMNT is probably tied with that as well.

LOL

I loved that ****** movie (3 Ninjas). 😀

Along with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Star Wars, and any Godzilla movie.

Hahahaha... oh man. I remember their names but I don't remember that part, although you think something that spectacular would stick in my mind.

I do remember the "Rocky loves Emily" thing that younger kids would say to Rocky to tease him about that girl.

Goonies, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Star Wars series, Indiana Jones series, Top Gun, Delta Force, The Hunt for Red October, The Empire of the Sun,...

From what I've seen, it looks like the Portland area has bounced back quite a bit. I know there are a lot more tech jobs in the area than there were a few years ago. And there's a lot of upscale development going on in downtown Portland.

I grew up in Oregon, so Goonies was a big deal. Besides, how can a kid not love a movie about finding a treasure map, going on an Indiana Jones style adventure to get past boobie traps, defeating evil adults, and finding a hidden pirate ship. It's childhood fantasy at it's best. I rented it for my kids and they loved it too.

One of the movie theaters here in Charlotte, NC just showed Goonies on the big screen a couple months ago. I was so bummed that I missed it.

My childhood favorites:
Star Wars IV(I was 7 when it was released and I saw it close to 10 times in theaters)
Star Wars V and VI
Raiders of the Lost Ark (I also liked 2 a lot, but I barely even remember 3, so it must not have been that good)
James Bond (all of them, but as a kid, my faves were For Your Eyes Only, Thunderball, and Moonraker)
Bladerunner
Space Camp (another story about the fulfillment of the ultimate childhood fantasy)
War Games
Real Genius
Back to the Future
Red Dawn
Rambo
Cloak and Dagger
