What was your favorite Christmas present?

I know it's a few days since Christmas - I've been busy!

What was the best Christmas present you received this year, and the best gift you gave?

For me, my mom bought me a TAG Heuer Link watch. The watch itself is kind of boring, frankly, but it was an amazingly generous gift, and she fully knew and expected I would probably exchange it. I am spending a bit more and getting an Omega Railmaster, a watch I have loved and coveted for a long time.

As for the best gift I gave, I gave my mom a Kitchen Aid Artisan mixer - not as swanky as the watch, but still a nice present IMO, and it was very well received.

I've been harboring a secret hatred for the whole Ipod movement right to the point that I actually got one. I've made a complete 180 since then. It's so small...it works so well...

Some tea and coffee fixings from mom:

A nice Krups electric kettle that brews 2-6 cups very fast, and a teapot that has a filter basket insert, no more messing with screw-top tea holders. Plus 14 different blends of tea including 4 different types of Darjeeling.

I may have to cut back on my coffee drinking to fit in more cups of tea :)

The Omega is a far superior watch, and looks nicer imo.
I'm thinking of getting myself either a Ball Diver, or a Sinn 356 UTC. The Sinn can be had for less than advertised there, but they have good pics.

Why? What could it possibly have to make it worth that much? I just don't get the whole expensive watch thing...

Better quality all around from the movement to the fit and finish. As with all things higher quality is more expensive. Simple.

To each his own. I don't think it's an ugly watch, but I find it a little dull and don't care for the bracelet. I am generally uninspired by TAG Heuers, compared to any number of other watches in their price range. I love the Railmaster, though it may not be to your taste.

Sinns are generally a great value, and I like their aesthetic a lot. I have a Sinn 656, and actually I kinda wish the Railmaster had a stealthy date display like my 656.

I already have a Seamaster GMT, and have been very pleased with it. Actually my mom knew I have many watches but I don't think she knew I had this Omega, and I think she thought the Heuer was a up from my many Seikos/Hamiltons/Sinn, etc. I really like my GMT, and wear it most of the time.
