What was your average in your first year of university/college?

Let's hear it! :) Also include how many hours you spent studying a week, if you know it (and don't mind mentioning it).

I'd ask for GPA's, but considering how much they vary between schools, % average is probably the best way to measure.

I'm a first year student, so I'm at a 0% right now ;)

What do you mean by average? We got letter grades and didn't see the percentages.

I had a 3.8 GPA.

A high C, low B. I came out of high school thinking everything was easy and I wouldn't have to study hard, but I learned quick. College definitely was harder than high school.

Appreciate everyones feedback :)

At my school a lot of the professors said that they don't even give 90% +, because noone is that close to perfect. Which has me pretty concerned, as I've been told that I'll need an 80% minimum to transfer into the program I want to. That is the main motivation behind this post.

4.0 but it was a Community College so you are pretty much a retard if you get anything less than an A. When I transferred to the University, they didnt even transfer my grades.

It doesn't matter. It's a completely useless number that will never matter in anything you do in life after college.

I had a 3.75 GPA on a 4.0 scale at graduation is all I remember. I paid attention in class and usually crammed.

While this is true, it is important if you want to enter into a different program, or keep your options open to transfer to a different university.

4.0 GPA (no +/-) my first year. 3-Qtrs

It was at a community college and I was a returning student as I had just served 3yrs in the US Army. ALL my classes were trasnferrable to the University I was accepted to with the exception of a Intro to Accounting and a lower level Math class.

I had 3.7 at end of freshman year, now in my senior year I'm just below 3.5. Those natural sciences courses really killed me.

I have a feeling alot of people who post in this thread will be pissed off about how their 3.8 dropped their GPA

I got like a 3.0 if I remember. Its been so long though (1999)

pretty high like 3.7

by the 4th year it was way low

like 3.1

i think maybe 2 or at most 3 people ended up graduating with higher than a 3.7 and no one had a 4.0 (electrical engineering)

a 2 - 1 in mechanical engineering

different system

a 1st class honours is like the best
then theres 2nd class honours and in that you can get a 2-1 which is upper second, or a 2-2 which is lower second ( ithink there might be a 2-3 which is scrapin the barrel of a second class honours)
then at the bottom is a 3rd class degree.....after that your a failure.

1st = 70% + (courswork and exams n stuff, final average mark)
2-1 is in the 60's
2-2 50's
(not sure about 2-3)
3rd is probably 40's

not entirely sure, since i dont aim for the 3rds or 2-3's. 2-2's. im aiming for a 2-1 preferably a 1st
