Angry Birds!... no, seriously, ME2.

ME2 has won most of these polls (e.g. Giantbomb users voting, all platforms), which is pretty impressive considering it was the first big release of 2010. People liked it enough to remember a year later after a bunch of other big releases.

ME2 was very good, but i was a little disappointed in how they eliminated so many of the RPG elements (namely, only a handful of guns/armor/mods). everything else about the game was great.

Best game of the year for me was most definitely Mass Effect 2. Nothing has given me that wide eyed sense of "holy shit this is amazing" since Half Life 2.

Other games I've loved have been Assassins Creed 2, Batman Arkahm Asylum(was that this year?), and in spite of the haters I love Black Ops because it was the first solid single player for call of duty, and the MP fixed so many of MW2's wrongs. Not the best cod by far, but it's given me something new to spend my time online with. BC2 is fun, but the competition simply isn't there.

1) Dragon Age : Origins

I'm going to finish my replay of origins and then play awakening before Dragon Age II drops.

anyway, I want to say ME2. 90% of it is mindblowing, astounding, just super cool. Take out the mining BS< and it's amazing.

But the rage and anger after the abrupt ending, realizing that the game feels about 70% complete (actual story missions)....left me quite sour.

Probably not enough for me to take it out of #1--I haven't really played much else as it is...but I suspect that with ME3, we're getting 2 incomplete games that feel more like 1 1/2 games when you put them together.

:\

Best - BFBC2
Honorable Mention - Minecraft
Worst - SC2... it was such a disappointment. I was a huge fan of SC1 (and quite good at it too) but there is something about SC2 that I just can't stand. On top of that, there is not a single good custom map for the game and battle.net 2.0 is more like b.net .02, they took a HUGE step backwards with it.

#1 is a toss up between Mass Effect 2, and Super Mario Galaxy 2 (can't believe nobody has mentioned this yet).

Honorable mentions:
Just Cause 2
Mafia 2

I thought Mass effect 1 was very good, one of my all time greatest games. But I just can't seem to get into Mass Effect 2. The feeling is so much different than mass effect 1. I wanted a seamless transition into Mass effect 2 from 1 but it seems really different. It really feel's like a whole another game not like a sequel. I just can't put my hand on it but it hasn't grabbed me like mass effect 1 did.

Just Cause 2 and Singularity are about the only two games I've touched released in 2010, I'm going to have to give it to Singularity.
