Don't bother suing...in most states, pets are just considered property, so the most you'd get is the value of a new cat...which is probably no more than $20 unless it was a purebred.

I am sorry for your loss though.

Sorry to hear about your cat. This is one of the many reasons I will not let my cats outside. Unfortunately it's the risk you take when you let your cat go outside. Although the exact figures are disputed, what isn't disputed is that the average lifespan of an outdoor cat is far, far less than an indoor cat. I'm not saying this to be a jerk, only to advise you to keep your next cat indoors. It's more work to have a healthy indoor cat, but it's possible. You have to play with it a lot more.

your cat shouldn't have been outside and off your property.

i hate it when people think their cats can just roam around free tearing up garbage and pooing in little kids sandboxes.

i dont understand why the owner of the dog should pay....you were just as at fault as he is..you cat was loose, not in your control, and not in your property.....his dog was loose and not in his control either..

seems like both are to blame.

yep... many cat lovers who have done their research know that it's safest and best for the cat to stay indoors. plus they live longer in general.
