It happened a few hours ago. My cat was chilling in the grass in just on the otherside of the wall where the golf course is located. A owner was walking his german shepard on the course. The owner was letting his dog raom free ahead of him. Now I wasn't outside at the time, but most of my guest where there when it happened. It was so sudden and surreal. I walked outside and saw one of my friends yelling at the dog on the other side of the fence. Then he mention that there was a cat laying there...

I walked over to the fence and saw my cat on the ground twitching his last breath as he passed away. Cid was a cherished family member for over 15 years. He was literally one of the coolest cats around. Even people who don't like cats like our cat. He was smart, clever, personable cat that loved people. We knew he was nearing the end of his life, but to go out like this is not what we had envisioned...

All I could do as I sat there and cried over my departed pet, was just get this owners information. I don't know really what else to do since the damage was already done. We plan to have the owner pay for burial services. It is the least he can do for what his dog tool away from us so suddenly.

I am still in shock over this :(
where's the damn crying emoticon :(

pic Here's a pic of my cat chilling with my brother as he did for so many years.

We'll miss you cid.

Just like to mention thanks for vi_edit for cooking the food at the bbq. I appreciate it.

I would suggest you get the dog's owner to place the dog to sleep for other animals protection not to metion childrens.

Taking another animals life like that when it is not pray like mice or birds is not a good sign for letting that animal live.

I agree it's a horrible thing that his cat died, but it's a known fact that dogs don't like cats, the same with cats not liking mice, etc.

My neighbors dog has killed a squirrel and a stray cat, but is no mean a threat to any human being. One of the sweetest dogs alive, just hates things that run across his backyard fence. My dogs will also go after cats, except my dogs aren't big so if they ever encountered a cat, they probably wouldn't do anything, but they are very nice to people.

This is a dog we're talking about, it doesn't differentiate between mice, birds, & cats. Trying to subject a dog to your personal human morals is asinine.

The owner just needs to keep it away from cats.

I don't want to put the dog to sleep. It is a tragic ocurrance. It just hard to deal with when a member of the family is just gone like that.

I never had a loss like this so close to me until know...

At least you're being realistic about it.

Which he wasn't doing at the time. That dog should have been on a leash. It's probably a city ordinance that pets have to be on a leash. I don't think the dog should be put down, but I think the owner should be subjected to a fine or something.

i am one to keep compusure when things go bad. I know panicing and getting emotional without rationaling thinking just makes things worse.

I would suggest at the very least that you get the owner of the dog tested for aggressive against things smaller then it at a local vet or similar business.

They often test to make sure it will not go after children and if they do the owner will have to report on such and will be issued a leash 24/7 rule whenever it's outside and other similar items on it.

Will help to prevent it attacking and hurting children in the future.

Beware 56k's :p

She is an angel, that's just the way she wakes up :)

Adul, I'd suggest getting a new cat. Most people recover faster that way :(
