I know xmas is coming up and just wanted to see all the horrendous gifts that people have received. Not really in the Xmas spirit but hey...

I stole this from another forum but just wanted to see what ATOT has to say.

Does not have to be Xmas Gifts, any you have received.

Example: (not from me)

"I definitely could qualify for one of the worst gifts of all time, even if it was thoughtfully handmade. A wedding gift, it was a "decorative" wall fan made out of plastic forks, scratchy lace, ribbon, and cheap silk flowers. My social skills were really stretched opening that one in front of a crowd. "

Someone once gave me the gift that I gave them the year before. It wasn't an amazing gift to begin with, but if you don't want it, at least don't give it back to the person that gave it to you.

my fraternity (delta sigma phi) is hosting holiday dinner every year. last december, i got a basketball. a year before, i got a t-shirt. a year before, i got a cup filled with vodka and jello.

useless gifts i ever had.

Getting something is better than getting nothing at all. I fall into the latter.

My in-laws got me a pasta maker for my birthday. I was really excited because I wanted to make my own pasta from scratch and it was a great idea for me.

The bloody thing broke the first time I tried using it, when my father-in-law was over for dinner. And just my luck, I spent that afternoon cleaning up my apartment and threw out the box and gift receipt.

I went online and found reviews for other pasta makers that said that they had bought the one I had, it had broken the first time they tried using it, so they got something else and loved it.

I really liked the idea though and will get another one soon, but that particular one maybe wasn't so good.

but it was from my great grandmother and it was a really sweet gesture. :heart:

Every time I received a gift, I'm very happy, it's like "Wow, someone actually likes me!". But I rather have cold cash.

Unless it's worse than nothing, basically an insult to your intelligence. For example, I was 10, well into my interest in computers and technology, pretty far past playing with toys and my filthy rich aunt who lives in a penthouse in Boston sent me a fifteen cent imitation hotwheels type monster truck about two and half inches big. I would have preferred a card with personal thoughts or best wishes, but this was a waste. It cost more in shipping it to California than the actual gift. Probably ridden with lead anyway. Likely from the same checkout lane, this aunt sent my older sister, a gifted artist, a pack of off-brand crayons.

A dinosaur model. It was used, partially assembled, incorrectly, glued into place, and missing parts. I was six years old.

A paper machete set of the three wise men. The "shellac" smelled like gasoline. I had to throw them away on the way home because they stank up the car.
