What was the slowest connection you had to the internet?

My slowest internet experience was on a 28.8K through Compuserve. Using the good ol Mosaic browser 🙂. It actually wasn't bad because almost all sites back then were text based.

Sheesh, you guys are just kids . . .

I had a 300 baud modem on my Commie. . . used to dial up to the BBS's and play turn based war games.

Back in the day I had a 300 baud modem...one of those old school jobs where you had to take the phone off the hook and lay it on top of the modem.

Played the hell out of some muds and other online text games with it.

Once we had a lot of noise on our phone lines and I could only connect at 7200bps on my 56K modem. It sucked big time, but at least I could check my email. 🙂

My question was more related to internet connection speeds not BBS's... since we are steering that way I started BBSing with a 1200baud. I remember playing an ASCI slot machine so I could win more time on a particular board 🙂

~8kbs on my dad's old school tandy laptop....I'm talking old school when we used to send Telex messages on this huge modem you put your telephone reciver on, had these cups for the phone to fit in....it was great, and I thought I was all cool, showing off to my friends...

I used to connect to local bbs's with a 2400baud modem on my old 286, then I graduated to a 14.4 on a 386 25mhz, then to 28.8 on a P233, then 56k, I've gone through a few rigs since then, but right now I'm on cable.

9.6K back in the day. I'm up to a whopping 21.6K now... I wonder what the future will hold, I might even make it to 56K someday, ahhhh... Cable, and DSL are now available nearly everwhere, everywhere but Linwood NY that is, sheeeesh.

Ahhh... my 9600bps modem using Trumpet Winsock to connect to the net via a SLIP account. Those were the days!
