BlackViper was the guy who encouraged you to turn off unneeded processes. His site has been down for a while, as is its mirror, but others have saved it:

basically im just trying to figure out if my GF has a virus, or something wrong with her computer or what

ive run Nav and S&D but they came up empty (in safe mode) and her computer runs slow as hell the second it gets booted up..

When I have that happen at work, I try:

-MS Antispyware (though there are lots of others you can try)
-memtest, HD test, check CPU temp
-reimage/reinstall
