What was the shortest job you ever had?

Mine was 2 weeks at a grocery store about 6 or 7 years back. I tried calling in because my buddies were having a bbq. The manager said if I don't want to go in then don't bother going in any more. I just said "ok" and hung up.

Moved to Off Topic.

Video Mod BFG10K.

I worked 6 hours out of an 8 hour shift on my first day before walking out. I was working in a factory placing large slices of pasta on top of trays of mince meat that moved along on a production line. Shittest job i ever did. About only 2 people spoke English. This was way back in 2002 when i used to bum around a lot and i wanted the cash for a GeForce 3 upgrade. There are more comfortable ways of earning money than that shit.

And yeah wrong forum 🙂

😕

i guess, a few months
.. so far 😛

my longest job is 30 years; retiring this Fall to pursue my new career

Union hall called me with a dispatch. Went to the company's office, watched a short safety training video, then went and pee'd in a cup. Showed up for work the next day, climbed in the crane, found that many of the controls were broken, lots of safety features in the crane were disabled...climbed back out of the crane and headed for my truck.

Foreman hollered at me, "Hey! Where are you going?"

"Back to the house. Life's too short to run junk equipment." I replied. "Call the hall and get someone else."

2 hours pay for the safety training and urine test.

Dispatched to another job about 2 hours later.

About three hours at a vet's office. First thing on my first morning they had me holding animals while the critters were euthanized and hauling out the corpses. Weren't paying me enough for the sadness involved in that shit.

I went through two days of training for a grocery store position, then quit before ever working a shift. I still got paid for the training though.

I did one day of roofing... never again... those guys don't get paid nearly enough

- Summer in Florida is HOT!

2 days working at Dick's Sporting Goods. I got up in the rafters do to some work that I wasn't qualified for, almost fell and killed myself. Got sick that same day and called in and said 'i'm out'.

ive never worked typical part time jobs or anything *really* crappy. everything ive done ive held at least for a year.

now working for a couple of companies there have been tasks ive turned down (safety issues), but i still kept the job.

I was the championship parade coordinator for the city of Cleveland. The position was removed.

Caddy at a golf course. I did the 2 days of training, spent $40 for my uniform, and ended up only going out for 1.5 rounds of golf earning roughly $35 bucks.

One day. I lived in Boston a few years ago, and I badly needed work. I had an interview with an IT firm, but hadn't heard anything back for about a week, so I figured I was going to have to do manual labor to get by for a bit. So I ended up going to work for this company that sold patio furniture and what not. Working conditions sucked. They stored their furniture in a warehouse with nothing but Plexiglas walls. And since this was during the summer, the temperature inside there got to be about 110 degrees. No protection from the sun whatsoever. Half way through the day I got a call back from the IT firm for a 2nd interview. Setup an appointment for the next day, and told the furniture company I wouldn't be able to work tomorrow, but that I could work the next day.

Went to the interview the next day, and then on the T ride back to my apartment they called to offer me the job. I was beyond happy that I wasn't going to have to return to the previous job for a 2nd day.

4 months working at Burger King the summer between junior and senior year of high school... quit when school started back up because I just didn't have the time (well, I could have had the time if I wanted to, but I'd rather have done extracurriculars after school than rush home on the train to get to work). the summer after that, I got a better job doing temp work and stayed with that temp agency for awhile before they quasi-fired me.

I think it was my first job as a Telemarketer. It lasted a few weeks, but only because they let us 15 year olds smoke in the office while making our calls.

2 weeks. Was working at a beverage distribution center, was one of the guys loading palates and/or loading trucks with cases from palates.

was carrying 3 cases of 32oz Everfresh bottles, probably should have been only carrying two, snagged my shoe on some strange metal shingle-like thing that was off toward the side of the aisle, and I fall. Bottles fall first, I fall onto broken bottles, got a nice piece of glass in my palm and had to get driven to the hospital to get 9 stitches. Got work comp for the medical bills, but... no more job, "wasn't needed anymore since the summer season was coming to an end"... yet, I when I go in, a brother of one of the employees was there, making the number of employees the same. Bastards laid me off because of a simple injury. :|

That was hard work, but I liked it. Keeps me busy so work isn't something painfully boring, and had some fun, plus decent pay.

Had a job that I had for quite a while as a busser before that, and quit since I had a new higher paying job. Get laid off, and I was not working for a long time until I found a job at the local movie theater. Could have went back to the old job, but... I'm stubborn like that.

I worked at a call centre for a furniture store's credit card for about 8 days. It sucked because the boss was a crazy hardass.

- Some guy was surfing the net when nothing was going on. Boss showed up with security, said pack your stuff and get out
- Not allowed to do anything if there were no calls. You were expected to sit there and stare at the wall. They made that clear when they fired the guy on the spot for surfing!
- Girl who trained me was fired for taking a sick day
- Huge bitch in general.

It wasn't really that bad though, I just didn't like having to wear semi formal clothing for a $9/hr job. I wasn't the only one who hated it though... the LONGEST seniority person working there was 8 months. Out of 30 people. lol.

The first 5 days were paid training though 😉 so I cost them money for being a shitty place to work. My friend quit in 6 days lol.

I worked for a place that did cement work on oil wells.

On my first day I went in at 7:00AM on a Wed. and went to work in the field.

I got home at 9:00PM on Fri. after 62hrs on the job and went to bed.

They called on Sat. morning at 6:00AM and wanted me back at work.

I told 'um "Just send me my check".

I worked for a month at Kerio Technologies. Decided I hated doing software support by phone and quit to go back to desktop support.

4 hrs at a temp job doing data entry while in school... it was a nighttime gig. I still had 2 hours to go and I just got up and told them I can't take it anymore. I've done years of data entry before that but doing it for so many hours after school, that just wasn't going to work.

I went through an interview, was hired and given a start date of a week later. I got a better job offer during that week and took it instead.

1 day working for a temp agency. Was set to work at a mortgage company. Second day I was offered a full time position. Worked there for another year and a half.
