I have been looking for a old castle game for some time now and have not yet found it.

some information:

I remember I had the cd in a box which on its display (I think) it was a picture of a castle with a tree and there were fire or lightning there.

Ingame there was these castles and towers which were pre-occupied at first, so you had to occupy them. Your troops consists of cannons, catapults, archers and riders on horses, dont remember more. When you won or bought(I think u can buy castles too, not sure) a new castle you could fill ur troops in there before starting a new game to either occupy a new castle or get attacked by the enemy.

when you went out from the game you got to a "menu" where you could send spies on the enemy to get information out of them.

would love to play this game again ;D
any1 know which game it is ?

I'm not sure, but I'd say Stronghold 1 or Stronghold 2.

Or Stronghold: Crusader

All of these were developed by Firefly, but I only have Stronghold1 and I don't recall any cannons...

Sounds like Stronghold 2 though.

I do all that in Mount and Blade: Warband, although I doubt that is the game you are talking about.

For some reason your description is reminding me of the ancient art of war. But I don't think that game even had cannons. Nor did it come on CD.....

Been searching for hours,

The things I am 100% certin of is that you could produce cannons ,catapults , knightriders and that you could invade other fortresses and defend fortresses , only one at a time !

when the battle was over you could do something about tax and spy and upgrade/train more units and stuff

this game was so amazing , but just cant remember it :(

Siege was one of my all-time favorite games. Wish they would redo it.

This.

I found it on one of those abandonware sites and I couldnt get it working in DOS Box.
Made me cry.
First RTS and first great RTS I ever played.

Was Defender of the Crown a RTS? Actually, is the game the OP is looking for an RTS?

nope

yes it was an RTS

while in the "defending" mode you could also move your troops all over the map, but the best way was to put them in the castle cuz the enemy would need to breach the wall first to come thru.

The view angle was like a bird watching straight down (dont know the word for this =) )
