lol... I've probably had 150+ rentals in the past 4 years and I can count on one hand how many of them were white.

same here. actually TBH i dont recall ever getting a white rental

most of the ones i get are blueish or the fucking gold color

ive only had one white car out of 14 that didnt feel like it was sucking my soul while i drove it. i hate white cars. ill admit tho, that there are some off-white/ pearl whites that look good, just not enough for me to buy them. im not a huge fan of the lime green as well, but if done right they can look cool. im not a very good source for color matching info tho, my civic will end up flat back/ flat orange when its done. not a metallic orange like every other car company is using now (which also pisses me off), but a nice, dark flat orange. solid color too, no metallic or hilites.

the dodge paradise blue is my fave on my truck as well. i like colors with character, plain black or white just doesnt cut it for me. if accessorized well they can both look really good tho.

I had a '12 Focus over the weekend in sterling gray metallic, I think it was...did not look bad at all.

Everyone knows silver is the most popular color. Silver was a cool car color maybe in the 90s, before *everything* turned silver.

White is boring, but as the wikipedia article on car color says, neutral colors increase resale value. An exotic car in white looks like it's waiting for paint. Imagine a white Ferrari ... what a crime!

The only exotic car I've seen in white is the Lexus LFA, but it *is* a Toyota so that might fit. 🙂

White car is like a chick wearing a white T-shirt. Looks good on a nice body in the summer, otherwise it looks cheap.

Car colors that I will buy in no particular order....
- Red
- Belize Blue(kinda like a darker blue)
- Platimun silver(any darker silver)
- White

Maybe Black if forced to.
I will never buy light silver.
My 2 car colors....

i think is a symptom of car companies offering boring colors. i would love a bright color that looks great, but you can only get fun colors on shitty cars.

White looks good if you have a dark tint to the windows and some black trim in places. Almost a storm trooper look.

I drive a silver car. It is only dirty when I say it is dirty.

Black cars are dirty as soon as they dry off after a wash.

I work as a detailer at a major rental company and we have a ton of white vehicles. It's the absolute worst colour for showing dirt. Even worse than black. I'd never buy a white car for that reason. A lot of rentals are neutral colours though. A lot of people don't like "fancy" colours. We have a few different ones though. Fiestas mostly. Lime squeeze, purple (which Ford seems to think is "red candy". I call it grape squeeze), and blue candy. We had a pumpkin coloured Kia Soul at one point. I also seem to remember a blue candy Fusion.

Black is popular because it's the one colour pretty much every car looks good in. My own car is dark blue. Both cars I've owned so far were. I think colour choice depends a lot on the car itself. BMWs look fantastic in white, Ferrari has to be red, Audi/Volkswagen in black. The Toyota Corolla and Kia Soul look terrible in silver.

When I bought my car on the last day of Cash for Clunkers, my choices for cars in my area equipped how I wanted were down to two: one was black, and the other was white.

I'd never had a white car, but I have had a few black ones. I chose the white one. White wouldn't have been my first choice, but I didn't want black either. Black looks dirty unless it's straight from the car wash, and you really notice when they could use a wax job.

Now, I picked based on the relative appearance of cleanliness, and I'm not unhappy there (never looks perfectly clean, but it never looks very dirty either), but the thing I noticed right away was that the interior stays cool in the sun.

Even silver and beige heat up a bit, and dark blue and black are positively unbearable (to me) in the summer. But the white car seems to shrug off the heat quite well, and I like it that way. I'm a convert.

What area do you work in?

I wonder how much of the recent popularity in white cars is attributable to apple products. People now associate white with 'premium'... no?
