In that double click on the left icon thread, people posted that it was new for them. Which got me thinking, I cant remember the last time I learned something 'new' about computers that was useless-ly cool.
So how about you - what have you learned recently that was useless and new for you?

In Excel, when you copy a sheet to another workbook, only the first 255 characters of each cell are copied.

Double Clicking the little line between Name, Size, Type, and Date Modified (any field) extends the field to the max length in the folder.

Just open a folder and double click the line between Name and Size to see what I mean. A secretary at work showed me that while I was working on her computer... I felt bad :)

I was installing a game for the pre-kindergarten class and i couldnt figure out why there was no sound. I saw arthur's lips moving but no sound coming from the speaker. Well, one of the little girls (5 yrs old) walked over and showed me the Mute button on the speaker. I didnt know they had mute buttons on them!

That you need an A reference in your DNS entry for a nameserver in order for it to work properly. :)

That if permissions aren't automatically being configured on an exchange mailbox when you create it, if you send an email to the account, they will be automatically created!

You got OWNED.

For me, it's simple. I learned that it's apparently more "efficient" and "intelligent" to reimage 32 computers simultaneously over a 10mb LAN every time a lab gets rebooted than to just fscking reboot it.
