Last week I studied all the books written by Fight Club author, Chuck Pahlaniuk: Fight Club, Invisible Monsters, Survivor, and Choke
This week I just started on some of J. G. Ballard's books, beginning with Crash and Concrete Island.
<< how was Invisible Monsters??? >>
I think FC and IM are the best of the four Pahlaniuk novels so far. Even if you're only familiar with FC, the movie, you know that Pahlaniuk is a good storyteller who regularly breaks conventional notions. IM is just as unconventional as FC was and you get to learn more than you ever thought you'd know about transgender surgery and lifestyles. Overall, I think Palaniuk is a good author who I'd like to see move on to other themes besides identity (the underlying theme of all four of his novels) and perhaps add a little more depth to character development in his largely plot driven stories, particularly in the case of supporting characters.
