What was the HARDEST video game you guys have ever played?

For me, it was Super Mario Bros. The Lost Levels. That game was HARD. I couldn't get past Stage 8-3(the cloud level) until I got the gameboy version and used a gameshark to beat the game. Far Cry takes 2nd place because you can't just save when you like and the enemies like to sneak up on you, and X-wing for the PC is 3rd because I always get killed and when you use the invincible and infinite ammo options, it makes you play the level over again.

There were a lot of difficult console games that just weren't any good. Battletoads was a very good game, but also very hard.

That game was pretty much impossible.

They are going to do an update on it for the PSP but this time they'll have a few save points throughout the dam level! Slightly different game mechanics as you can have a shield and upgrade that and all the usual old stuff. I'm looking forward to it personally.

NES era had some hard as hell games.

Battletoads, Golgo 13, Ninja Gaiden, good times.

That's because they were poorly planned and video game usability was primitive which caused them to be nearly impossible.

The Rocketeer. GOD I hated that game, I couldn't even play the missions because I couldn't do the plane trial at the beginning.

Descent (The original) never made it past level 18, I believe there was 20. It was very hard but also I got too creeped out at the end, even though it was just robots, to spend the time needed to finish it.

X-Wing for the PC. I could never get past a Y-Wing level where you had to destroy a bunch of sh!t at a supply depot, always got blown up

I loved the challenge though. I ended up beating all Ninja Gaiden on NES but couldn't beat Battletoads. Those racing levels just killed me, although I was able to get pretty far.

That was when I was 10, good ole days.
