Mine was my trusty Athlon64 3200+

Started out on classic SETI.

Despite it being the original Clawhammer variant I managed to get it up to 2.4ghz.

Still running strong, and it's now my backup gaming comp. :)

Mine was a P4 1.6GHz Skt 478 on F@H. No longer crunching, but a backup storage server for all my stuff.

EDIT: Almost forgot I had a Pentium 133 for years. SETi Classic!

A 486 DX2-66 on the first RC5 (I believe 56-bit, so RC5-56)
It was my first computer and doesn't run anymore.

A quick search shows it must have been around 1997.

Although not my very first rig for DC, my oldest & most impressive rig was an ALR 6-way Pentium Pro 200 running for the RC5 project.

Those were the days! :D

The first that is not running... probably a TBird 750MHz or a 233 Pentium. Both would have been on Seti Classic.

Oldest still running, P4 1.6GHz.

May 2006 with a A64 3000+ Venice; projects: SETI@Home and Rosetta@Home.

I loved this CPU 34°C idle and only 45°C while crunching with the stock cooler! It still rests in my bedroom :)

June '98, using an Abit BH6 MB with a Celeron 300a OCd to 450mhz (never could get that to 500mhz). I modified a Dell 486 Server case from AT to ATX. Started running RC5 on it. And no, it isn't running. The BH6 bit the dust after a couple of years. I continued to use the Dell case until finally I upgraded to an Antec Sonata I, which I still use for my main PC. I moved the Cely to another MB, then not long after that, built a PC for my mom using the MB/Cely300a. They used it for awhile, until it locked up one day. Never to be used again.

Pentium 133, eventually upgraded to a Pentium 233. RC5 crunching with distributed.net in '97, I believe? Donated the box January of last year....

p2 350mhz running Seti@home. The machine is still running 24/7 as a file/print server, but not folding anymore.

Dual Xeon 2.66GHz--I got into crunching late. And no, it isn't crunching under my name anymore. It made the office too hot to run where we live.

Far too late to the party.

Someone needs to bust you back down to intern status.

What can I say, I married into crunching (Liz got me started on it)

 Intern can do stats too I guess. I hope to make up for my lateness with devotion. :D

That's a new rig;)

Though my 1st rig was a Pentium 166MMX (just over 10yrs ago!:Q), my 1st cruncher was my trusty ole Celeron 366 @550MHz (with 192MB RAM,16 MB TNT2) which I originally built in Aug 99 ,I started crunching SETI on it in Oct '99.

I've still got the CPU (which is in a different case & mbrd etc) but I sold the Soyo 6BA+III mbrd it came with a few years ago.I still have the case & FDD from that build which I retired only a few months ago.
Atm the Celeron PC is around a friends house, it was being used as a net PC up until about 2yrs ago, it hasn't crunched any DC in about 3yrs & it probably never will again, well maybe just to benchmark it;).I'm keeping it primarily to run older games.

:D

When I was in college, we didn't have personal computers and most of us didn't have calculators (too expensive).

I was just thinking about DC with slide rules or using the university central computer with punch cards!!::laugh:

A "quad slide rule"!! Now that would be real competition!

I guess this may be appropriate for the "old man" thread too.;)

A pair of Tyan Tiger (BX100 chipset, I believe) motherboards. They were dual socketed, running Celeron 300a processors, overclocked by 50% to 450mhz.
Used for the RC5-64 contest run by Distributed Computing. I ran Windows NT 4.0 on them because it recognized dual processors.

I'm sure they'd still be running if I hadn't tossed their slow, power hungry butts into the trash 4 years ago.
