TRS 80 then commdore 64 then Atari 400 then atari 2600 then atari 1040st that I beefed to 2.5 meg of ram, then in 95,when Msoft introduced Win95 and mouse OS,I spent $4700 for my first PC clone, a Zeos Pantera Wildcat P133 with 32 meg ram and 1.2 gig HDD.

I had the first game console in the magnovox oddysy and to really date myself,I had a 4 track tape deck in my cadillac when I was a senior in High school,Aretha Franklin tape blaring down Bellflower Blvd. all before the invention of the 8 track tape deck.

I am an ol' timer,folks!;)

<< I remember when you could double the capacity of a floppy by snipping a bit off the side off. >>

Ah, yes, I remember turning a so-called "single-sided" floppy (only one side of which was certified for data storage) into a "double-sided" floppy by cutting a new write-enable notch. The resultant disk had to be removed and flipped over in order to utilize both sides, so they were often referred to as "flippies". Worked like a charm most of the time, and back when 5 1/4 inch floppies sold for 3 bucks each, this was well worth doing.

Late to computers, a p133( in '95), but I took a ton of computing classes '76 in Fortran. I use to do my homework in the computing lab because it was so empty.

Don't remember the year, it was 7th grade, though and I graduated in '97. You do the math. Anyway, it was a 386/16 with I don't remember how much RAM, a 40MB hard drive and a 5.25 and 3.5 inch drives.

Family computer, not sure when, but I imagine in 92 or so?..
maybe earlier, but no later.
386 16 mhz with turbo to turn it into a 25 mhz, or 33, not sure..
5 1/4 " floppy, premium one that read 1.2 " floppies, no 3 1/2 inch, 54 meg hd, dos 5.0, then later dos 6.0, which of both I still have copies, and manuals, haha.
hmm, 14" monitor, 640X480, umm, 512k video card, (at a premium in the day) 2 meg ram,
subsequently that computer started my tinkering, and is currently in pieces, and the case serves as the stand for my current computer, check my rig.

Apple II+ in 1980, I also used a TRS80 at work, boy did that thing suck. I used the Apple to progarm my way through numberical Analysis courses on my way to a BS in Math, a great machine truly a classic and the "original" PC all others followed in the path blazed by the Apple.

A friend had a Timex Sinclair, truly a cute little machine, thou I did not feel it was nearly as useful as my Apple.

We used a hole puncher to notch the other side of the "flippes"
and I got a pretty good deal on my first box of 10 5 1/4 folppies, only $26.00

I lost one disk to my 2yr old son who snagged it off the computer table and tried to take a bite out of it, now he just completed his computer engineering degree at CMU, you might say he cut his teeth on computers!

Years ago, back in the early 80's my dad got me a Sinclair Spectrum. Since then we've been upgrading & getting new stuff all the time. I remember using the ZX Spectrum + too :)
Grey machine with audio tapes as floppy drives, connected to the TV playing Mr. Men educational games... ahhh those were the days!
