Is it as bad as it seems? Removing Democracy in Iran .. Should they like us for that or should we be considered as part of THEIR AXIS OF EVIL..

What gave us the right to destroy Democracy in another nation .. and is our Democracy just a giant joke or is it real

The egg.

Would you be upset if the Iranians tried to install a pro-Iranian dictator in Iraq or any other nation on Earth including our own? You are a man that believes in equality, right? The Iranian hostage crisis came as a result of our absolute disrespect for the Iranian people. Bringing down their democracy for our own self-interests (and also blowing up one of their civilian airlines) goes a long way in showing why we are in this position today.

Iran hostage crisis

Widespread dissatisfaction with the regime of the reinstalled Shah led to the 1979 Islamic Revolution in Iran and the occupation of the U.S. embassy. The role that the U.S. embassy had played in the 1953 coup led the revolutionary guards to suspect that it might be used to play a similar role in suppressing the revolution.

Were kind of pissed of at Iran right now, let's storm a few embassies and hold people hostage for 400+ days.

This is the United States of America . . . we scarcely teach history at any level. It's the reason we are doomed to repeat much of the dumb arse crap that we've already done.

I find myself wondering why any country should need nuclear weapons.

My US History class in college didn't cover that. It's mostly about domestic affairs and politics.

Nobody needs nuclear weapons unless of course there's a country with a huge army and conventional arms on your border. Then a couple of nukes might come in handy.

If you've got THOUSANDS then basically you are an arsehole.

Well the OP is a dumbass he must be unaware of ALL the foreign policy blunders from every president before Nixon. Doesnt matter what party was in control, the CIA did a lot of shady stuff under every single President in modern history. All in the name of Foriegn Policy.

Also this wouldnt be taught in a basic history class in college, let a lone elementary or high school. Its much more complex than that. It would be taught in a US Foreign Policy class(either History or Poli Sci depending on the University).

Just a little history lesson. The US has done far less harm to other nations than the European Powers of Spain, France, Germany, and the UK. So shut the fvck up.

Most of the problems in the world(Latin America, Africa, third world asia) can be blamed on the Imperialism of the UK, Spain, and France. The former Hegemons left a whole hell of a lot of mess to clean up for the US. The US has blood on its hands. But others have much more than us and continue to deny it.

I'd definitely have to agree. Kids in HS would couldn't come close to covering any of that material and not really even in college unless they took a specific course like you mentioned.

Most people don't have a clue about the horrors the great European colonial powers inflicted on the world.

I do not know if they do, I will ask my friend's daughter next time I see her. Knowing high school ladies she probably won't care, then again math is her best skill. I do know that PC has hit their social studies department, what the most ludicrous example? They cannot refer to the religion of the thugs who beheaded the journalist in the middle east!
