most formats will work. Quicktime stuff will work on most macs and pcs. AVI files with certain codecs will work on the mac. MPEG1&2 stuff has decoders on all systems. Real Media file formats also work.
I want to play them on the schools macs. They don't have divx obviously hehe. It looks you need Quicktime Pro to encode. The non divx avi codecs have way to big of file sizes. I'll try and find something to convert avi to mpg and see how that works.

You don't need Quicktime Pro to encode. You should be able to do it without it. Macs can play WMV7 for sure, I don't know about 8.
