I'd have to agree with keeping the capture/tv stuff separate from the vid card because of upgrading and stability although my tv wonder LE is a POS! I can't believe ATI can put out crap like that! Anyway, I'm running a GF2 MX that I paid 130 bucks for way back when... good card but gonna have to upgrade when I get the new Unreal!

ATI Radeon 8500LE w/ 128MB running at 275*/275*. It's a solid card, I won't need to upgrade for a while (when cheap R300 cores are available.)

I have a little bit of everything:

Voodoo 3 2000 @175MHz
Voodoo 5 5500 @175MHz
Radeon 32MB DDR @180/180
Radeon 9000 @300/250 (Atlantis)
Geforce3 Ti 450@230/530 (Gainward Powerpack)

This page will bring you back into the light my friend.

Alternate drivers for the TV Wonder LE made by Brooktree. Work like a charm, just not with ATi's software. Best drivers out there bar none.

ELSA Gladiac GeForce 2 MX 32 Mb.
If it were possible, i would change it for an ATI 9000Pro (here in Argentina is much cheaper than a 8500 LE)

Kyro II..... i guess I'm part of a dying breed lol 🙂

My other computers have:
GF2 MX200 (32MB), 2 TNT2 M64's (one PCI, one AGP...both 32MB), SiS 6326 (8MB), Diamond Stealth 3d 2000 (S3 Virge ... 2MB), Trident ISA 512K, MediaVision Pro Graphics 1024 (VESA slot)

Not a bad variety eh?

Cheers

GF3 Ti200

Don't plan on upgrading anytime soon since apparently a GF4 really isn't THAT much faster.
Next card will probably be ATI 9700 Pro AIW.

Visiontek Geforce 3
Visiontek Geforce 3 Ti200
Visiontek Geforce 3 Ti200
Gainward Geforce 2 Pro 450 Golden Sample
all with 64mb of DDR ram

Someday I will get the guts to try an ATI card, but every time I consider it, I start seeing more posts complaining about compatability issues and mediocre (or worse) drivers and I find myself ordering yet another Nvidia card.

All kinds of crud:

SV24 built-in video - 800MHz C3
RAGE 128 PCI in a PIII 866
Radeon 7000 Slot A 900MHz
GF3 Ti200 XP 1600
AIW Radeon 8500 DV XP 1600

Spares include:
STB Lightspeed
GF2 MX400
G450eTV

The GF3 is still a great card. With your setup on 3DMark 2001 you probably get 8000-8500;(unless you use the newest Detonators) with the ATI 8500 9500-1000 with the 8500 also overclocked. Using these as comparisons you will not get a giant speed bump. I have both cards and the 8500 is better IQ wise and if you play a lot of DVD's; Radeon Excels.
The Radeon is just not much faster than the GeF3; unless you have a specific reason other than gaming it is not really much of an upgrade.

The 9500 Radeons are going to be announced on the 15th and probably ship soon after. You will probably be able to pick up the 9500 non pro for around 150 street. This will be a DX9 part and will be an upgrade that will last longer than the Radeon 8500.

hold on ... let me open my case....

ok....trident 9000 ISA, baby $2 and I doubt anyone's card can beat it!!!! I can actually see my BIOS come up character by character 🙂

R A D E O N 8 5 0 0 R E T A I L 1 2 8 M B <-- doesn't cause the chaffing NVIDIA does.

🙂
