Hello, I'm waiting for a new barebone Shuttle SN25P with A64 3800+.
I have to decide the video card PCI express to buy.
I want the barebone with the lowest noise, and I'm thinking to buy a fanless video card. But I love the games, and I need a sufficient "strong-3D" card.
Some friends of mine told me that the 6600GT fanless is too hot to work in a barebone: the gpu's temperature in a barebone in full load was near 100 C°!!!
Then, what video card I have to buy? I've seen a Gecube X700 fanless... is this card good to work in a Shuttle P-case??

Thank you! :)

I hear you can get a fanless x800 Pro. The only thing I could tell you about that is you'll need some good airflow in that case. :p
Anyhow, I wouldn't go for a fanless system, I'd go for a system with low speed fans, just to keep at least a little air flowing in the case.

MSI and Leastek graphics cards, in my experience, are ultra quiet. There is no fanless card for a gamer, fyi. I seriously doubt there's a fanless X800 Pro...

Gigabyte has a couple of fanless cards, including a PCIe x800 Pro. However, you might well run into a lot of trouble using such a beast in a case of that sort. Fanless cards absolutely demand good airflow and decently low ambient temps.

On the other hand, you might, with a bit of hacking, manage to install a fan in the side of the case, or something, that would blow over the heatsink and solve the problem, while allowing you to use a 70mm or larger and not one of the tiny little integrated ones that whine horribly.

Tried to install the fanless Gigabyte X800 XL card. Didn't fit!
The back of the heat sink smashed up against the side of the case .

Returned it. Now looking at the MSI X800 XL card instead. Heard its quiet...
Does anyone have this card working with the SN25P?

Get a Zalman fanless cooler for any of the non-6800 Ultra cards.
