What uses less power, whit our black?

I have started reading a lot of ebooks on my evo and am wondering what uses less power. I use aldiko which gives the option of white background with black text or black with white text. Both are equally comfortable to read for me. Which is better for battery life?

On my Vibrant, it's the opposite. Black background with white text. I can use it for hours with minimal battery drain.

Like Naustica said white bg is better for LCDs and a black bg is better for AMOLED displays.

Doesn't it depend on the screen? From what I have read, a black screen on an OLED screen actually draws no power so many people are setting black backgrounds on their Nexus S units or any other device with an OLED screen.
