They will take just about anything.

Yeah well I tried to give them an old window A/C unit, and they said no thanks.

I took it,and a pickup truck load of stuff to the local Salvation Army store,
they were glad to take it All.

Goodwill won't take anything. I tried to give them my old couch, nothing wrong with it accept a tear in one of the cushions. Guy came out and was like, "I can't sell that." Was pretty rude about it too. Anyways, the Salvation Army took it just fine.

Yeah definitely.

I just took a wine rack, box of Legos, art supplies (new, never used), gloves, and clothes. Take anything that you think they could sell. You gotta remember the people that go to thrift stores... They will buy anything. (I shop at thrift stores)

Those would be better to go to the local library.

Goodwill is very picky.

Salvation Army will take most anything non-pershiible.

Perishible items (food) should go to the food banks and church charities handlers.

I bet it would have fit at least partway into one of their drop boxes.

yes. I donate books all the time, and usually buy a few while I'm there. $0.50 hardcovers baby!

mine does...or at least they provide giant bins (dumpsters) around town that say "donate what you can, we accept most anything so long as it doesn't spoil, and no chemicals please"
I just set it in the dumpster and go on my way, even with the truck there never had a problem with monitors (that worked), computer cases, other odd gagets and electronics and books and crap that i didnt think should be thrown away and didnt need.

Just FYI, most (all?)libraries don't use donated books, they auction them off for proceeds. That's not a *bad* thing but if you're thinking you will gain a sense of civic pride in knowing that your personal library is now housed in your public library, think again.

That will depend on the library, book itself and condition. Each will have their own guidelines.

I have for the past 20 years, dropped off paperbacks that I would buy while on the road, read them once and give them away to a local library. (4 different states, and all show up on the paperback shelves).

A couple of hardcovers picked off of e-bay that the library was missing in a series have been checkout a dozen times since arriving last year.
