What type of slender spider spins a web around itself?

So far i've seen two, one about maybe a centimeter long, and another one just a bit under that. Anyways, they're very slender spiders. The legs don't stick out sideways as much as they do to the front and rear. Anyways, the weird thing is that i always see them at the corner of the ceiling and wall, inside of a little web. It's as if it's spinning a little cacoon. What type of spiders are these?

Nah. These are common in houses. Completely harmless. The only annoyance is their leftover cocoons along the ceiling corners. Unless you have a phobia of spiders, leave these guys alone. In exchange for a small bit of space, they'll repay you by eating any bugs that they find.

I generally leave house spiders alone unless they're large. They're a problem that largely takes care of itself: when their food supply disappears, so do they. Until then they're doing me a favor so I'm fine with letting them set up house behind the bookshelves or under the dresser.

edit: Sorry. Didn't mean to imply that funnel web spiders were harmless. They are in fact dangerous. But that's not what erikiksaz has.
