What type of port/adapter is this?

port? looks more like a broken switch.

get a closer pic of the actual receptacle if there is one.

what does the actual hole look like? it is like a little phone or ethernet port? if so, i would say the civic forum guy could be on to something. i would bet on it being some kind of serial communication port.

i don't know about it being for the factory immobilizer, though. even if the car doesn't have a true CAN bus, i would imagine communication with the immobilizer would be through the DLC. and now that i look closer at it, that thing looks like something aftermarket someone installed into an empty delete plate.

ok, wow, yeah, that's aftermarket. not what i thought i saw in the zoomed out picture.

no clue as to what it is. that little delete will pop right out with a small screwdriver (a plastic trim tool will avoid putting a mark in it, if you've got one). chase wires back and see where they go. i would bet that it might just be going to power and ground (cig lighter is a close easy 12v source), if so, i'd just remove the wiring (make sure anything they spliced into is intact and no bare copper is hanging out). then toss the little panel and get a new delete from the dealer, it's probably three or four bucks, at most.

no its like one of those verification things for some sort of security system

my uncle's buick century custom he bought brand new had one

he had a key fob that you had to plug in there to use the car (if you had activated the system)

looks like the prongs are broken though
