I used to own that case. Got it for 7 bucks. Trust me, you get what you pay for.

BTW: not that particular pink thing, just the same case.

Try the Rustoleum "Hammered" spray paint series. Dries to a real hard finish, but be sure you prime any plastic parts or the paint will stay sort of soft.

Any spray paint from one of the major brands (Krylon, Rustoleum, Dupli-Color, etc.) will do, just sand down the case and degrease before painting. Use a sandable primer on any plastic parts before spraying with your color coat and they should match well.

Willing to try something a little risky, try a medium to heavy coat of one of the "Hammered" paints and immediately overspray with a light coat of a "Metalic" paint. Amazing results if done correctly, sort of a spider web or marbled look, but really deep.

Vinyl dyes work great BUT they smell awful, come in a limited range of colors and are often hard to find. They are definately an OUTDOOR project, unless you intend to gag everyone entering the area where you painted with them.

You could get Krylon sandable primer and then Krylon paint; readily available and lots of colors.

I'm going (slowly) with automotive paint; I want a nice mirror finish but doubt I'll have the skillz to get it.

Krylon Fusion worked pretty well on my case. If you get the original paint off the case, the new paint will be much more durable. I got lazy and didn't grind the paint off the top of mine, and I now have to regrind all of the paint off and repaint once it gets warmer.

Krylon Fusion is great on plastic - the stuff often looks like it was manufactured in that color, because it dries very thin.
For the rest of my case, I used regular Krylon spraypaint, and did a lot of wet-sanding, some polishing compound, and car wax. Pretty shiny finish. I've heard that taking the case to an auto-body shop and getting it painted with car paint can save a lot of time, and will give a great finish. I don't know what that would cost though.

I vote for the "hammered" enamel option. I painted the case of my Shuttle XPC with dark green Hammerite. Very easy. You don't have to fool with all the sanding between coats, etc.

Jeff...thanks for the complement and the 1st link you gave to the Granite setup was done over many years ago with spray paint when it 1st came out and I then clear coated it. It's held remarkably well and I even did a set of Speakers/Subs with it..
The key to a good paint job is prepping...Smooth scruff like finish (all previous paint does not have to be removed), a good primer for adhesive, then thin layers of paint (2 coats better than 1 thick) with a fine sand between {600+grit Wetn Dry}....top off with a clear coat , rub and butter wax. Quality spray paint is fine although I prefer PPG Car paint.

I am slowly ending my pre-Mods because many Co's and People are being Creative in that Dept and This may be my Last One except for special orders in advance with plenty lead time ;)
