I was considering Virtual channel, but have gotten people saying it's not worth it, and I did just check the prices myself and I guess there is a bit of a differance.

So what should I go with.
I am running on an Abit KT7A Raid, with a duron 650 right now, but will be upgrading to a Tbird 1gig+ soon. What would be the best memory to use. PC 150, Pc 133, VCM, something else, and what manufacturer should I use.

why do you say that, it is more stable, and it is faster. Plus it is not much more expensive.

I hate all these mixed opinions, compuwiz told me that VCM would be better then his PC 150 stuff.

Just think about it,
if VC is so great, how come it still hasn't kick regular sdram out of the market?
Do you see how many people here are using VC?

Can't go wrong with Crucial PC-133, you can overclock the $hit out of that.

One reason to stick with Crucial (which is awesome stuff) is that it will work w/ other platforms than VIA - if you think you'll ever go back to an Intel or non-VIA AMD platform in the future. But VCRAM is not bad stuff - it will boost mem operations a bit. Probably would not be noticable in day to day operations though.

you could get a stick of PC166 tonicom memory.
search for pc166 on pricewatch. a stick of pc166 256mb is only arond a hundred or less. the chips are rated a 6ns and might give more headroom than pc150

Just checked sharky's new memory price guide, the VCM is only 10 dollars more per 128MB stick then the crucial. Would you still pick crucial?

crucial or mushkin

I sware by Mushkin(infineon)
My roomate just loves his Crucial
take your pick!

Never heard of many people running that VC stuff, and Kingofcomputer is probally right, if it was "SO" much better then Plain jane SD, then we all be using it..:)

Kingmax TinyBGA memory is inexpensive, reliable, very overclockable, and it looks cool. Highly recommended by me.

Well I am running an AMD setup now on a VIA chipset, I doubt I will ever go back to intel, so unless VIA stops making AMD chipsets then using the VCM would not be a problem. I have heard of the apacer VCM OCing to around 150+, after that you are starting to hit the limits of the northbridge anyway, so it overclocks decently, and it offers stability, plus at least a little performance increase, evern more so in games. That is what I have heard, while I am not trying to preach the stuff, i just want everybody to know what the stuff is.

So if the price was even for the crucial, mushkin and VCM, what would you go with, still be crucial? I just wish i could find a better review of it.

I have read several, and while I do agree the increase doesn't seem to be as much as what was said, it is still there a little. In sandra this stuff blows away mushkin and crucial, but only barely edges out in real world benchmarks. I don;t know. What do you think
