I've had leather... too cold in the winter, too hot in the summer... otherwise, great.

Sheepskin!! I so wish it would make a comeback. Warm in the winter, cool in the summer, and so nice to touch. Sadly for now I must vote leather.:(

Neither, I like those seat covers made with the wooden balls. I have had 2 of them and they are comfortable in all conditions.

Cloth is better than crappy leather. But good leather is better than any type of cloth.

I only buy well used vehicles, and the material used for the interior is FAR down on my priority list. Matter of fact, if I were to buy a new vehicle, I'd have trouble choosing. Cloth is more comfortable, but leather looks better, and heavy leather wears better. Soft leather is comfortable, but tears easily and is harder to maintain.

My wife put me through hell on her last car purchase. She wanted all the bells & whistles that comes with the premium package, but the leather that's usually included. Went through a shltload of cars before I found one!

I think leather feels better - I don't care what it looks like. My wife was the same way with her last car purchase - insisted on heated leather seats. Also insisted on a VW Passat, but I talked her out of that. Had a heck of a time finding a car for her though, requiring heated leather seats limits your options a lot.

My wife insisted on velour, not leather. The leather in domestic cars is very heavy, with a glossy finish. Made for durability, NOT comfort.

I disagree. You have said many times that you only drive what...5,000 miles a year. So you can't be doing many long trips. I put 20k(or more) a year on my cars and leather seats hold up better to me over long trips(1000+ miles) than cloth. Leather seats tend to be more supportive than the cloth ones and my back doesn't get as sore with the leather seats as it does with cloth.

What has been explained to me is that with leather you have to work in a waxy substance for "wear" to keep the leather in good shape. Most import brands work it into the leather while domestics tend to just slather it onto the top of the leather making for that glossy & plastic feel.

50,000 Miles on my Envoy, and the leather hasn't worn at all. Of course, I also condition the leather about every 6 months.

It's open grain leather (like a chamois) VS closed grain (like a belt). The structure of the springs (for support) have nothing to do with the covering.

Supple, open grained leather is just as comfortable as cloth, but God forbid the comb poking out of your back pocket snags it! :Q

yeah it seems like leather is a no brainer... i just heard some horror stories regarding leather from makers like acura, where the leather starts to crack or wear out after the 1st year or so based on what i read in forums (of course it varies)

it doesnt get hot and sticky, it doesnt get freezing cold.
