I'm starting to think "centipede." If it grows in strings / runners that you can pull up by grabbing an end, then it is.

Yes they are in strings and runners. I have been trying to find out the name of the grass. thank you very much.

I'd have to taste it to find out. It looks like it might be carbon based.
