i have always played either fps or simulators and was wondeing what everybody else plays and why. my reason for the games i play is because i am not a very patient person and want to get into the action now.

Everything, I'm openminded and crave variety. Only thing I don't really enjoy - and it's a playstyle rather than game genre - is PvP. I just find it boring.

I like to think I play a variety of games, but it's mainly FPS, action (ie, Prince of Persia), and racing type games.

I played Asheron's Call seriously for a year or so, but have sworn off that one completely. Every now and then, I go through a phase where I play a RTS game or two, but get turned off quickly because I don't enjoy the micro-management.

I don't like puzzles, adventures (since indiana jones) and flight simulations but I play everything else. Mainly RPG, RTS (eg warcraft 3 - I like these games but the micro in multiplayer pisses me off unless i'm drunk etc), Tactical FPS (best at these) and TBS (civilization, warlords, homm etc). I also play MMOs but i'm very selective...

Seems to me people can only be truly great at either FPS or RTS, never both. Discuss!

RPG, RTS, some FPS, some adventures. I like variety, but some playstyles really turn me off. I like good dialogue and storyline, which are rapidly diminishing in todays RTS/RPGs :(

fps only, because you can't really talk sh1t to someone after taking their bag of gold in a game like WoW.

1v1, office CSS, you have 4 health and you kill other guy with 67 health, oh yeah, time to talk sh1t.

Prime example of a big reason I don't much like PvP. And oddly enough, nobody ever took a "bag of gold" from me in WoW ...

Anything involving other people. It seems for me that AI is either too easy or too difficult, whereas actual people can be challenging and evolving. FPS is the best genre for this, but there are some MMO's that have good PVP to fill this too. As far as RPG's go, I prefer Diablo style action. I also like RTS's, although I've only really enjoyed a few. Most of them seem bland.

Sports games, FPS, and some RPG's.

I'm completely hooked on WoW right now. This is my first attempt at a MMORPG, and I'm loving it. I also enjoy the "lite" RPG's such as Diablo, Dungeon Siege, etc.

Other than WoW, I'm currently playing (rarely): Halo 2, SW Battlefront, MVP 2005 Baseball.

I'm dying to check out God of War, Resident Evil 4, and Forza Motorsport... But with WoW loaded on my PC, I just don't have time for other games. ;)

You should make time for Forza. I tried it, it's awesome. I heard God of War is simply incredible too.

Forza is great looking and plays well, lots of cars and upgrades to do. Only thing with Forza is that i dont get that true sense of fast speed while driving. I think its only going at like 25-30fps, thats probably why the "sluggish" feeling, other then that, this game rules

RTS and sport games are my least favorite game. I play some FPS but I get some headaches. I wanted to play HL2 but I don't know if it will affect headache.

My favorite for PC is FPS.

They are very immersive, very easy to pick up and play, and you can devote a very short amount of time to it and still have fun.

Single Player RTS usually.

I havent truely enjoyed an FPS in single or multi-player modes since Red Faction and C&C Renegade. Those were just too fun to put down, even with a 56k modem I was a crack shot.

RPG's.... I prefer the style of Diablo2, BG2 was alright but I hated the battles. Ancient Domains of Mystery is one of the best and most addictive games Ive ever played. Even if it is a far cry from the pace of Diablo2 or the interactivity of MMORPGs, it has a certain depth to it that could make BG2 seem a little small.

MMORPGs arent my cup of tea. I paid for FFXI when it wasnt even out over here, played on the American servers and I wasnt impressed. It has put me off paying for MMO's for a good long while. I did play PristonTale, what was then a free Korean MMORPG.... despite some major bugs, it was fun. After spending 30 days back on it, im not going back there either. It seems as though 90% of the population are either too young to understand unwritten rules or just break them anyway. I had spawns stolen from me constantly.

Good racing games are few and far between. NFSU was amazing in my opinion, then they killed it with NFSU2. Midnight Club 3 Dub Edition, Ive seen a few adverts for that and it looks good.

FPS both single and multi (mostly CS:S ATM, but have played UT2K4 as well)
RTS (Normally I only play modern kind like C&C:generals, WH40K, I think I need huge tanks to find it entertaining :p) and only single or Co-op vs computers.
Heroes of Might and Magic I play alot as well. (Turnbased strategy with RPG elements)

Everything except card games (like magic the gathering / yugioh) and sports games.

Any type, as long as the game is well designed and immersive. My favorites are probably RPG, FPS/"Action" and Strategy, in that order. However, I can think of games in any genre that have sucked me in, including Adventure (Grim Fandango), Sim (Nascar 2) and Sports (High Heat 2001). The only exception may be RTS. I'm more of a ponderer than a quick decision-making, multitasker so I never jumped into these, although I was enjoying Warcraft III before I put it down for WoW.
