I live in Louisiana and I'm eating jambalaya right now (thus inspired this thread). What type of food is your region known for?

Casserole. Err.. I mean deep dish pizza. I, not being native to Chicago, always get those confused. Also, hot dogs I guess? And, Italian beef.

Hmm probably poutine, burgers, pizza, and other stuff that's really bad for you. :p

In summer there's like at least 10 chip stands that open up, and there's several permanent poutine places too. We have a bunch of Chinese restaurants too, but I think that's fairly standard everywhere.

CT...hmm...

New Haven-style "apizza"
Steamed cheeseburgers
Farm ice cream (thick & chewy New England-style, none of that churned fluff garbage)

Also, it took me a good 15 years to like them, but split hot dogs on a New England-style bun. When done properly, they are actually amazing. When done like crap, it's basically just a piece of bread folded in half with a dog inside & is extremely meh. But again, done right...nice crispy toasted outer bread, deliciously grilled split dog, various toppings...it's pretty dang good. Super easy to make perfectly at home too!

These things:

At some point there is a perfect balance of spicy and roasted flavor that pretty much makes them the best thing ever on burgers, pizza, chicken stew, breakfast burritos, and enchiladas. Thing is, it's rare to actually get that balance. More often than not it's either poorly roasted chopped blandness, or hot as fuck just for the sake of being hot.

Since it was supposedly invented here and is the state dish, chili. Also BBQ and chicken fried steak.

I live in shity CO, as in shit food. Perhaps we are famous for burritos and Rocky Mountain oysters? But only a damn back woods hick would eat Rocky Mountain oysters.

Chicago has the best food! I could eat Chicago hot dogs, Italian beefs and gyros everyday!

Pacific Northwest...seafood, I guess. Salmon, oysters, geoduck (gooey duck) clams, razor clams, halibut, (Imo, not as good as Alaskan halibut)...oh...and apples.

Grits, BBQ, fried chicken, chicken fried steak, cornbread, hushpuppies, potato salsa, fried okra, biscuits & gravy, pecan pie, sweet potato pie, peach cobbler, pralines and banana pudding.

And sweet tea so sweet it will rot your teeth out almost instantly.

Being that it's Wisconsin...cheese, cheese, more cheese, some beer, and also cheese. Deep-fried. I'm from one of NYC's Chinatowns and this place is seriously jarring...thankfully there are "ethnic" markets nearby and I know what to do at them.
