What type of cloth do you use to remove artic silver?

Nocturnal

Lifer
I'm looking for a cloth or material that can easily remove artic silver from a heatsink as well as a CPU. Thank you.

If it is being stubborn, some dissolve it with whatever cloth is available(Only on Heatsink and IHS, don't use this stuff on the pins or anything if you made a mess). It leaves an oily residue so follow up with some alcohol.

For IHS and heatsinks.....i use a normal dry peice of paper towel to wipe of any thermal paste. I then proceed to clean it with some cotton balls and 99% isopropanol rubbing alcohol (Works wonders). If I have lint free cloths, then i just go ahead and dry it with one of those. For CPU's without IHS' i simply use the cotton and lint free cloths....and of course the rubbing alcohol 🙂

cotton balls with wife's nail polish remover (with acetone) to remove the bulk of it
q-tip w/ said nail polish remover to get the rest

hahahahaha
between this and that thread about the 7.2ghz overclock, i can honestly say i laughed till my eyes watered

I use a medical gauze bandage (the kind you tape over a wound...I had a couple handy and thought they'd leave fewer fine particles than a cotton ball) and a q-tip with 98 (or 99%) alchohol to get most of it off. I then used camera lens tissue (the very fine, papery kind) with just a drop of alcohol to make sure I wasn't leaving any lint or particles, and then blew it off with a camera lens blower.

Lol, wow... Yah, coffee filters work well, lens cleaning paper is good too, or go and buy lint-free glasses cleaning cloth. I get them for 40 cents a piece and cut them into squares for use. 91% Isoprohyl alcohol is good because it evaporates so quickly and doesn't leave a residue.

pharmacy's alcohol swabs 😵, because I cound't find any liqiud isopropyl alcohol 🙁
it got some lint though so I need to be careful in cleaning especially my zalman cnps7000 as it is just many fins mounted together 😵
