You say "long time" but it specifies 3.0 or newer for portable mode ( (under removable drive section).

I don't know about that (perhaps the actual method of making it portable has changed), but I've been using uTorrent in portable mode for as long as I can remember. Definitely the 2.x versions, but maybe 1.x as well.

And yet not modified from portableapps? Hmm, intredasting... :hmm:

those who are arguing about nothing being wrong with the new bloated 3x uTorr versions etc, is correct if your just another monkey. For the rest though you have to be either very young, naive or ignorant to assume there program is doing only what you assume after the program itself seems to have more then trippled in installation size if not more even without the optional bloatware selected... and the reasoning for this size increase is because you assume its working 3x as good? when programs become more efficent they become smaller in size not larger. unless the task there designed for changes or something.

Vid Not specific to this but the internet in general...

After seeing uTor 3.x I never used it again and switched back to uTorrent 1.6 ....has always worked great for me. If it didn't i would have probably tried some of the recomendations for alternatives as some have listed here.

EDIT: Oh yeah not to mention i went onto there forum long time ago when 3.x was all new, and saw others with some issues... I suggested to them to just revert back to older utorr version, and MODs there immediately told me never to suggest that or be Banned, i said sumthing to the effect of WTFfor - Fukoff, and thy terminated my accn.... Thats a really big hint itself no technical knowledge needed to c they have something else invested in 3.x other then just "torrent function"

Yes, the utorrent program has increased in size from ~250K for V1.6 to ~1.2MB for v3.2.2, but the amount of memory it uses during downloading has only slightly increased from ~20,000K to ~26,000K.
Does the increase in program size really matter when most of us are using terabyte sized hard drives? And I would think that after 6 years, V1.6, that most of us are using at least 4GB of ram.

What utorrent has become is a bittorrent client + adware. You can though opt out of installing the adware during the installation process.
I'm running the latest version 3.2.2 Build 28595, and after running a HijackThis scan and checking the registry have not found any adware.

Uncheck the boxes during installation.

Check Decline during installation.

Looks clean enough for me.

If you still want to run an older version you can download it from here: http://www.oldapps.com/utorrent.php

You must have disabled all of the ads. 3.2.2 added a bunch of ads in the torrent client. You have to go into advanced options and disable them.

Here is what the default window looks like (pic from google)

After you clean it up it is just like normal, but that is a hassle. I upgraded to 3.2.2 and found this out. I turned all of the ads off and disabled auto updates. I will not update utorrent anymore. Every update they release now is just to add more advertising. If they keep this up I would switch to another client, but am used to utorrent and like its UI.

Here is what it should look like with all of the ads turned off (also using the older skin).

Nobody uses Torrentflux?

I guess it isn't very polished, but it's functional enough for me, and I can access it from any internet connection in the world.

I did disable (set to false) gui.show_plus_upsell under Options-Preferences-Advanced. Forgot to mention this since I did it in a previous version and updated over it.
Under Options, just like most software, you can uncheck what you do not want to show.
