Or simply don't install it.Those of you that still use µTorrent and don't like unchecking the bloatware at install, use Ninite to install it.
Just revert back to 2.2.1. 3.x.x is absolute crap - beyond being bloatware, it randomly throttles my downloads to 10KB/s >:|
Edit : Here ya go
I miss the old days of sub 100KB uTorrent.![]()
Does it matter if you're downloading terabytes of shit?
I don't know about that (perhaps the actual method of making it portable has changed), but I've been using uTorrent in portable mode for as long as I can remember. Definitely the 2.x versions, but maybe 1.x as well.
Yep. I found an old thread (discussing 1.x versions), just to be sure. And yet not modified from portableapps? Hmm, intredasting... :hmm:
Yes, the utorrent program has increased in size from ~250K for V1.6 to ~1.2MB for v3.2.2, but the amount of memory it uses during downloading has only slightly increased from ~20,000K to ~26,000K.
Does the increase in program size really matter when most of us are using terabyte sized hard drives? And I would think that after 6 years, V1.6, that most of us are using at least 4GB of ram.
What utorrent has become is a bittorrent client + adware. You can though opt out of installing the adware during the installation process.
I'm running the latest version 3.2.2 Build 28595, and after running a HijackThis scan and checking the registry have not found any adware.
If you still want to run an older version you can download it from here: http://www.oldapps.com/utorrent.php
